I keep on thinking that the Turkish handsome assistant coach, Ferhat Akbaş, was keen to get out early from the current JPN team. He must have seen something from within.

I listened to his interview with the podcast freeball. He said he enjoys working in the Japanese team but they want him to work there full time, even during the club season, at least the few years before Tokyo. He took an offer in Romania to coach a club so he has to leave there. And he thinks that's better for his career.

Throughout the whole tournament, I feel like there are so many talented MBs, OPPs, Setters in Europe. However, for OHs, there aren't that many stars. For example, in the top 3 teams, Serbia's Miha and Busa have some ups and downs today; for Turkey, the MBs are the stars to me; for Italy, the two OHs had a solid but nothing spectacular tournament.

For other countries such as China, USA and Brazil, there are more star OHs such as Zhu (even ZCN or LYY) in China, Larson, Robinson and Hill in USA, Fe Garray, Natalia in Brazil. And of course KYK.

Interesting to see how the culture is different in different continents.

Yes, China has so many good OHs but not so much on OPP side. They have also tried the MB Zheng in the OPP position, and it doesn't seem to work too well. Also Liu Yanhan's spike at position 2 is not as effective as position 4, and Zhang seems to be the only one that is versatile in both 2 and 4. I doubt Jenny would give up Zeng though, it is a strong signal to me that now Zeng is training with the A team during the VNL final phase. Zeng's experience in passing and those small things really help the team but not so much in the offensive side indeed, even if she made it, she will be a sub.

China specifically put these two together to fight for the last OH spot. Same for the middles.

Liu XT got the silver in 2014 Italy, gold in 2015 Japan and 2016 Rio. While Liu Yanhan usually plays in the B team, and she has only the 2015 World Cup gold. Liu XT's biggest advantage is her decent passing, Liu Yanhan's floor defence improved a lot but her passing still is shaky (Liu XT's isn't much better either but at least decent). For China's OH, they already have Zhu, Zhang and Li YY, they are all pretty good attackers, so the 4th OH needs decent passing, that's the first thing, otherwise you can't contribute much to the A team, Liu Yanhan's attacking and blocking might be better than Liu XT, but without passing, she has little chance. Hopefully Jenny will give her a chance and see what she can do though.

I feel bad for Egonu. She had to win every single game for Novara own her own. Now she gotta do the same here. When does that ends?. Is not like she's playing in Japan or for Korea. She has world class players around. Is like she's getting taking advantage of.

Yeah, Egonu has a pretty great spike efficiency here today with 38 points. And for a lot of times, Chinese MBs just go directly to Egonu since nobody else can kill the ball, Gong had lots good digs too. Egonu has to pick a shaper angle to avoid the blocks, and that certainly increase the chance of making an error. And we often forgot this too Egonu is only 20 years old.

for me , i dont think turkey is too strong to beat China in OQ.they dont use zhu ting in Jiangmen pool, they still beat turkey.I think evey strong teams should treasue the chances to play with other strong teams, especially those who are not in the same federation with you. lang ping is so disgusting.after 2020,she can spend she earned from china in us as a american. disgusting

Jenny is still a citizen of PRC and she could have earn more money if she choose to coach other teams (national level or club level). You can think that Jenny made a bad choice here, but I would never speak that way about her. How disrespectful!

This is just the dual replay of game 2 of last season.

In 2017-2018, Vakif won game 1, first set of game 2, with high confidence, but then suddenly lost 3 sets in a row.

    This year......

Maybe just coincidence, maybe more than that. No one can provide evidence or counter-evidence, so who know?

Last year, Vakif won the first game 3-0, so the momentum is on their side and people expect them to win the second game. This year the first game is a close five set match, so the second game anyone can win. I don't see much resemblance.

ecz vitra spends tons of money every year, the reason they lose every year is that there is no chemistry within the team... and there is always a deadly weakest points in the team.

First year, kosheleva has reception problem. second year ecz vitra actually plays good, however vakifbank has much stronger roster than ecz vitra.

This year ecz vita has obviously weaker middle blocker and passer~~~:teach:

weaker passer? I think Larson/Kim/Meliha are probably the best you can get for passing. The weak links are the MB and setter.
