This squad will be such a downgrade from Maret-Anthi-Boz trio. There were rumours of Guldeniz Önal joining Aydin too right?

Anthi and Maret duo had distinct roles as offensive and defensive OHs but Greta and Ezgi are both well-balanced OHs so maybe at the end this duo might work better. On the other hand, I totally agree with you on opp position. Nicoletti is a big downgrade from Boz. I wouldn't want Güldeniz to be starter by the way. I think Ezgi Dağdelenler deserves to be the starter finally.

I wonder if Aydın will hire a foreign MB as well:teach:

Kuzeyboru renewed with Matea Ikic. I dont know what are they going to do with 5 OH, 3 of them foreign and 3 of them are the same type of players. Instead of Lianma-Matea they could get 1 good OH.:thumbdown:

I agree! I don't think Matea-Mitchem duo was problematic last season. Their biggest problem was Opposite position and they get that covered very well. They have now 4 good/decent MB so that position is also good but having a foreign backup while not playing in European cup doesn't really make sense.

it sounds like a lose-lose situation for Japan. They won't make money without audience if they want to organize the event anyways, if they won't organize it then all the investment they've already made will be idle

They will put money in Arina for 3 years. And when She turns 21years old. When She is still very young She will get huge offer probably from Moscow, Kazan or Kaliningrad and come back.

so? With your logic, FB shouldn't sign with any young players because they can leave to other teams after 3 years. It is not a slavery system, right? If a club invests in a young player there is always a chance that they can leave. Boskoviç gets good offers every year but she still chooses to stay in Eczacıbaşı

And what you said about boskoviç and Haak is irrelevant. They might not have a domestic league but they can always go to another club in Turkish league or another league.

It looks like Lucia won't be there at all, and Caterina, although she debuted in NT very early, hasn't been realistically present in Mazzanti's NT since 2017, she wasn't a real part of this group past few seasons. Like I said, besides Egonu there's no obvious candidate for this role, and Paola may be too busy in carrying a team on her shoulders to fight with referees, haha.

I don't think that this directly means that Chirichella won't make it to the Olympic roster, but considering what Mazzanti said earlier about taking 3 MBs to Tokyo, it would have been an indication that Chirichella won't get any extra points thanks to being a captain.

But as for now these are just rumors from Pasini blog.

I really disagree with the exclusion of L. Bosetti from NT. Mazzanti will include Gennari instead of her but I would really prefer L. Bosetti instead of her since Bosetti has more experience and can play as libero in the case of an injury of De gennaro, Gennari can't.

But for real. This girls are great future players, but Fener is not some middle level team to waste season for growing players who can come back in their domestic league whenever they want.

Okej if they are young Turksih players but foreign...

Arina is already very good player, but Brazilian is just to young.

Why not? Eczacıbaşı invested in Boskoviç at such an early age and it paid off. The same can be said for Carutasu and Haak in Vakıfbank and Vargas in FB earlier.

True that both Arina and Ana are very young but they are literally the two best prospects from the 2004 generation. Right now there are only a bunch of players who can make a team to reach championships at the highest level (Zhu, Egonu, Boskoviç, and Haak). FB knows that to be able to compete with top Italian and Turkish teams, they need to invest those exceptionally talented players.

And why do you assume that they will go back to their league after a year. Do you really think that FB is so stupid to make only 1-year contract with them after getting into so much struggle to bring these players?

I would expect L. Bosetti to be the team captain. If she won't be included, then little Bosetti could be a good pick too

By the way, this might be an indication for excluding Chirichella from Olympic roster:white:

I'm really surprised with this transfer of Ana:white: it is of course a great investment for future but having already a very young player in starting 6 is a risky move. Now another teenager next to Arina is not the best decision in my opinion, unless Terzic will alternate between Ana and Arina but in this case it would be a pity For either of these two if one of them would have to spend the season at bench. With this squad, what was the point of tranfering Lazareva? This was such a random move from FB:hit:at least they have very experienced two players, Eda aND Naz in the team to support youngsters

    What defines Beauty ?

A few years ago, Japanese netizens were asked to pick the most beautiful Chinese volleyball players....1st place went to Yao Di, second to Yuan Xinyue and third Zeng Chunlei....they said considerations were given to inner beauty etc etc....

I might also add that, physical appearance is one thing, it is more important to have a sunny, cheerful disposition and a nice smile, which is exactly what the above three possess.

For me zeng chunlei hands down!!

I’m sure Ogbogu will have lots of time on court and that’s pointless to worry about. But for Derya I’m not so sure. Tugba also did a nice job in Yesilyurt, but she barely had a chance to play after returning to Vakif. Her performance of her limited time on court was quite painful to watch probably due to too much time spending on bench.

With Meliha’s leaving, one of Derya or Tugba will fill the role of her, while the other one will be the 4th OH who will probably have very limited chance to play. Which one do you think will fill the role of Meliha? Derya with better attack but worse passing, or Tugba who’s a better passer but much weaker in attack?

I think it will depend on who is not playing well between Gabi and Bartch. In general Guidetti seems to like Derya more since he took her to ECh roster a few years ago instead of Tuğba but this season he prefered Tuğba instead of Derya so it is hard to guess.

Tuğba is indeed a balanced OH and can fit Guidetti's system better. Derya needs a drastical improvement at reception department. Since Hande improved a lot recently, maybe Derya can do too.

That's because volleyball isn't really that appreciated in Italy. It has a small pretty invested base, but the general public couldn't care less about it unless the national team does good in Olympics/Wch, but even then it's just a fizzle that doesn't get engagement on club level. Big companies just put the money on football, even a Serie C football team gets more attention than a volleyball team, that's why most volleyball teams have to resort in many small local companies and that's also the reason why most teams are from Northern Italy considering the South doesn't have a thriving economy on the territory. To be fair some teams do a good job at creating a good network of connections, Conegliano definetly did a good job in engaging a lot of small wine producers (I think most of the sponsors of Conegliano are related to Prosecco, from producing, bottling, typography etc), but still I don't see it as a good model in the long run and the number of teams that went from fighting for a title to barely going through or just disappearing (Perugia, Pesaro, Piacenza, Villa Cortese, or more recently Bergamo and Casalmaggiore) it's the prove of it. As of right now the only team that doesn't rely on that is Scandicci, Savino del Bene is a big freight forwarding company (last year they had 1.6bln € of revenue) and its his boss is a big volleyball fan that just baught himself a team and just started to throw money at it, you can notice they don't have as many sponsors on their jersey as other teams. It's honestly ironic they're such a mess

It Turkey, company's subtract their sponsorship investments from their taxes. Is it similar in Italy?

Not sure where to best post this, but as Israel is going to play ECH qualifiers I'll post it here: according to CEV website Logan Tom is head coach of Israel NT!!! :what::white:

wow! Does she have jewish descent? Or she just found a new girlfriend there?

I noticed that Anna Velikiy is still in the roster at the age of 39, I could imagine it would be fine for a setter or libero but for an opposite player this is quite an old age:white:

I'm so sad that match between Igor Novara and Vakifbank didn't happend. They have put Conegliano under much bigger pressure than Vakifbank.

not true, Vakıfbank was almost winning 3-1 and leading the match from the beginning. Even at tie-break it was 4-0 lead.

Check out your own comments in the other thread. Even a fanatic like you thought Vakıfbank will win.
