Serbia NT 2012

    We finally know the official roster.


    Setters:
    Maja Ognjenović (Modena), Ana Antonijević (Kan), Bojana Živković (Volero Cirih), Danica Radenković (Spartak)


    Opposite hitters:
    Jovana Brakočević (JT Marvelous), Sanja Starović (Rabita Baku), Ivana Nešović (Seongnam)


    Liberos:
    Suzana Ćebić (Zul), Silvija Popović (Rabita Baku), Nina Rosić (Volero Cirih)


    Middle blockers:
    Nataša Krsmanović (Rabita Baku), Milena Rašić (Kan), Nađa Ninković
    (Volero Cirih), Stefana Veljković (Asistel), Maja Savić (Vizura), Jovana
    Stefanović (Crvena zvezda)


    Outside hitters:
    Jelena Nikolić (Vakifbank Istanbul), Brižitka Molnar (Ned Redrokets),

    More or less expected, but there are some changes, for the better, I 'd say. Sanja Starovic is back, hopefully to stay, and that could be useful.
    Jelena Blagojevic and Ivana Nesovic are also new names,

    I think Nesovic played at 2007 World Cup, so she is not completely new. Good to see Blagojevic, she played a good season in Italy even though her performance went down in the end (just like Urbino's performance in general).

    Yeah, 5 years ago Nesovic was supposed to be the next best thing, but then her career got derailed. Hopefully she'll get back on track eventually, but I'd pick Starovic before her for time being.
    As for Blagojevic, I REALLY hope she gets the nod in the end. She definitely needs to be in front of Lazarevic and probably even Malesevic who didn't have the best season in Volero. I have a doubts about Molnar after her season in Japan, but I'm sure she'll make it to the final roster.

    I have watched some games with Ivana Nesovic in Korean League, and I have to say I was impressed with what I saw. Some weeks ago she played against the team of Brankica Mihajlovic, and she was clearly better than her in that particular game. Her spikes was very powerfull and she wasnt making many misstakes, was solid overall, and she looked very motivated. Much, much better than in Italy. I think the kind of game they play in Korea suits Ivana good though, so we will have to see how she plays against better opponents before we can draw any major statements of it, but she´s a intresting joker in the squad for me at least :)

    Very strong roster, indeed. Serbia has a great mix of youth and experience to work with along with two great setters!

    By the way, me and a friend was at Frankfurt Airport many years ago, I think it was 2006, and we were standing at a coffee-shop, the girl before ous was very tall like 2m, so we asked her how tall she was (stupid but we was like 16-17 yrs. old), some year later I understood who it was we asked when she came more famous, it was Brakocevic :lol:


    And one thing more, then we saw all from serbian team, and one of the coaches was surfing porn at his laptop :lol: (I dont know who though)

    Hehe no, all the players was sitting on the floor and listing to music from a phone, and the coaches was sitting together at chairs like 10-20m from there and he was sitting in the middle acting like it was nothing special!

    yes sorry before I was in a hurry and I wrote in an unprecise way...I meant that in another discussion it was said that Bjelica had mononucleosis and she wasn't available for NT...sorry!! anyway I'm happy for Blagojevic, she has been a good surprise this year in Urbino!
