Display MoreFive questions from Nikola Grbić to Zoran Terzić
1. You're famous for your totally disarming and catchy smile. Do you use it on purpose or it comes naturally to you?
It's very well known just how often I smile during matches, so I'll take this as a joke. Most people who comment our matches on Internet websites call me Grumpy - so much for my smile! However, when my smile does appear once a month, it's priceless.
2. Other than your smile we just talked about, how do you manage to get over a situation where players don't do what you've instructed them?
I used to be much more emotional in those situations - I could yell, make a dramatic scene or even sit on the bench and ignore them for the rest of the set or the match. Now, everything I do on court is much calmer, more subtle... ALTHOUGH, I CAN STILL GO CRAZY FROM TIME TO TIME.
3. Have you considered taking a break and coaching men for a few years?
I like the way you phrased it - "take a break"! I used to think about that a lot earlier, but not in the last few years. I guess my ladies have got under my skin so much that I can't do without them anymore.
4. Since you have tons of spare time and you simply cannot decide what you're going to do with all that leisure, what do you do when you want to relax? I'm in a similar situation, so I need an advice on how to organize.
I thought we had agreed not to use unfamiliar words and phrases! "Spare time" - what does it mean??? All joking aside, I haven't had the time for a longer vacation in quite a while. When I manage to get a day off, I spend it with people I hold dear and who I unfortunately only get to see very rarely due to all my obligations in the club and on the national team.
5. Who was your role model as a coach while you were still a beginner in this job?
There have been several coaches who have influenced my way of thinking about volleyball and had an effect on my career (he then goes on to mention a few (older) Serbian coaches). I didn't have a real role model as such, but if I had to pick someone in particular - Nikolay Karpol.
I loved it. Thank you for sharing.
