Germany - DVL 2010/11

  • Plus Schwerin - Wiesbaden...Wiesbaden is motivated from the victory against Dresden last weekend and needs to win to keep their chance for 4th rank, but Schwerin is very strong at home and also wants to be ranked as high as possible when it comes to playoffs.

  • Well, i also think Schwerin has the advantage here, playing at home. And like you said, Wiesbaden needs to win this game, so the pressure is more on VCW. I predict a win for Schwerin.

  • I will have a special look at Kim Renkema :teach: Hopefully Avital Selinger is watching too

  • Natalia Korobkova has some problems with her elbow, as far as i know.
Yes, Vilsbiburg´s very strong in the 1st set. Just like against Dresden and Schwerin. They have to keep playing that way, it always seems they kinda slow down after winning one set.

Just saw the pad around Natalia´s elbow. She usually don´t wears one.

  • Wow, i have to admit i didn´t expect Wiesbaden to win this match. I thought it was gonna be a close match with Schwerin being victorious.
    Congratulations to Wiesbaden.
As far as Stuttgart and Vilsbiburg is concerned, well, i hope, there will only be 3 sets ;)

  • Yeah, Vilsbiburg wins 3-0. I also didn´t expect this. This was a very important victory for Vilsbiburg. Not the best game, technically, but great fighting spirit.
Both liberos have been voted MVP. Yeah, Lenka, way to go

Dresden and Vilsbiburg are the first teams that definitely will be in the playoffs, Schwerin and Stuttgart aren't safe yet. Next Monday will be Wiesbaden-Stuttgart, if Wiesbaden wins they have very good chances to get into the playoffs eventually which would be quite a surprise.
After Sonthofen, Erfurt is the next team to go down to 2nd league. The 3rd team will be Sinsheim or Köpenick. Köpenick had a great chance today to make things clear by winning against Sonthofen but they failed...

  • @ Matthias

    I watched the match tonight.

About Renkema: She received very well, what is confirmed by the stats, but in attack and block she isn't good enough for Dutch NT. She lacks power and height.

Dutch NT has in Grothues and Stam two really good receivers. So I think there's no need to call her for ECH.

  • Today, 17.00 CET live on http://www.cpm24.tv: VC Wiesbaden - Smart Allianz Stuttgart. The winner of the match will be on 4th rank for now. At the moment Stuttgart is one victory ahead, but has a worse set ratio than Wiesbaden. If Stuttgart wins, it will be very very hard for Wiesbaden to still reach the playoffs, if Wiesbaden wins everything is wide open. I watched the video of Schwerin-Wiesbaden from Thursday, and Wiesbaden showed an excellent performance in service and block, if they can repeat it today I am quite sure they will win again.

  • And Wiesbaden won! 8| they must be playing qute well, witch is always a very good surprise...how was teh game? I could not watch it...

and what is going on with Schweriner? If they keep like that Wiesbaden and Stuttgart will pass them and play playoffs....

Great Dresden! ^^ Müller is playing quite well the last matches....can you tell me a little bit about her Matthias? How old is she? Do you think she can be in NT?

With two matches remaining (3 for Schwerin and Sinsheim, only 1 for Vilsbiburg and VCO Berlin), this is the current ranking. Top 4 teams will be in the playoffs. Dresden and Vilsbiburg are safe on 1st and 2nd place, Schwerin, Wiesbaden, Stuttgart and even Suhl are fighting for the other two places. 5th ranked team qualifies for Challenge Cup, Hamburg and Münster still have theoretical chances to reach it but it's rather unrealistic. 12th-14th rank will go down to 2nd league, Sonthofen and Erfurt are already sure, the last team will be Köpenick or Sinsheim. VCO Berlin = Junior NT stays in our league also next season with the new JNT generation.

Wiesbaden and Münster definitely are the surprise teams of the last weeks. Earlier in the season both teams showed disappointing results, if they played so well as now all the time they would be in playoffs for sure. Münster's Croatian OH Hana Cutura finally shows her full potential after a weak start in the season and now is one of the best players in our league. Wiesbaden finally got over most of the trouble around the club during the season which also affected the team badly. On the other hand, Schwerin and Stuttgart seem quite tired now after they started very well in the season. Both teams have big big trouble in reception in the last weeks, and their star hitters Mira Topic and Maren Brinker don't perform well at all recently (although Topic finally was good again today). The fight for the playoffs stays interesting for sure. Next Saturday CPM will probably show Dresden-Suhl.

Grit Müller plays in Dresden since many years, but this year is her best season ever probably. She is 27 years old and 1.80 tall and usually a good receiver too. I don't know if she can be in NT, I hope she gets a chance at least...I really want some new OHs in our NT!!! For example today (and in many other matches too) Regina Burchardt played better than Maren Brinker, and she is just 3 years older than Maren...By the way, Apitz and Thieme did not play for Dresden today because of illness, nothing serious.

  • Thanks dear for your infos...

yeah I agree she could recieve a chance, I think Guidetti could at least try to call them and see how they go in small tounaments...I mean, 27, 28 years old, is a great age for volleyball, physicly and mentaly. I think he should call them. Also to give some stimulation for Brinker, Beier, and so on, having other fighting for a position can be good for their own performance...^^

  • First transfer news from Germany:
Anke Borowikow from Wiesbaden signed a 3-year contract with Alemannia Aachen from next season on. She will begin to study in summer and her boyfriend also lives near Aachen, so she was looking for a solid long-term solution. Nikki Klingsporn will return from Wiesbaden to USA, and the club also won't keep Tasha Holness because she will be involved with Canada NT in qualification tournaments for OG 2012 during next season, so she would be available only for 2nd half of the season probably and they don't consider this an option, even though her performance this season is outstanding.

  • I will have a special look at Kim Renkema :teach: Hopefully Avital Selinger is watching too

I agree with you. I'd like to see her in the Dutch NT. but I don't think Selinger is watching her with a special look  just pray for him not to choose such old players.

  • Anna Cmaylo of Dresden, extended her contract for one year.
The 24 year old MB, who also got offers from other teams said, it was an easy decision to stay in Dresden. "When i came here last year, the first three months were hard. I had to get used to a higher level of playin´, but now i have improved myself playingwise and as a human being. I like living in Dresden."
Cmaylo and 4 other players have contracts ´til 2012. These are Grit Müller, Stephanie Kestner, Linda Helterhoff and Stefanie Karg.
Headcoach Alexander Waibl also hopes on an agreement with setter Maren Apitz (what a surprise ;) ) and other players. "We wanna keep most of our players for next season", Waibl said.

  • Some more news:
Felix Koslowski stays head coach in Suhl.
Wiesbaden is currently trying to find new players for next season. They want 4 very strong players who can also be a bit more expensive, 4 "normal" players and 4 young talents in their team. Their new coach wanted Nadja Schaus, but it seems she won't leave Schwerin. Anika Schulz is an option as Opp, but probably she will stay in Switzerland.
According to the same report, Magda Kralikova won't get a new contract in Vilsbiburg (but Wiesbaden doesn't want her back either).

  • After filing for bankruptcy, i wonder how, all of a sudden, Wiesbaden wants to afford 4 players who can be more expensive. Even though it was said Wiesbaden avoided bankruptcy, where does the money come from? They´re 400.000 Euros in debt and players were waiting for their salaries. According to that report, a lot of players have said they wanna play for Wiesbaden? Gimme a break. As a player i wouldn´t wanna sign with a club facing an uncertain future.

  • Yeah, it sounds strange, but then for example in Italy more than half of the clubs in 1st league don't pay the salary in time. I remember when Ssuschke played in Altamura she was waiting for most of her money still one year after she left :!:
I think with the new management Wiesbaden has better chances to survive and get a good team again, and it's a matter of definition what "expensive players" are...
