2013 South American Championship (6-10 August)

  • Brazil 3 x 0 Colombia (25/15, 25/18 e
    25/12)
best scorer: Lucão and Lucarelli with 9 pts

  • The main reasons for the CSV going to the top 2 teams from the Continental Championship is the following:

    1. Brazil, even if they lost in the final, are you going to keep them from playing in the World Championships?
    2. Argentina, same as above

Brazil has won this tournament 28 times (out of 29) and Argentina once. Argentina has lost to Brazil in the final 15 times. The last time Venezuela was second was 2003.

So the CSV and FIVB felt that this tournament would be the predominant qualifier.

Then the remaining tournament would be one for the "lesser" teams to get the remaining spot. I would like to see the FIVB have a play in for the 2 final spots between CAVB, NORCECA, AVC and CSV.

  • Chile surprised me for good in this championship, especially Dusan Bonacic of course, but as a team too. I don't know how could they lose to Colombia, they looked a much more serious side against Brazil & Argentina compared to the "cafeteros".

Also, that list of Argentina has a couple of errors: De Cecco is not a WS, Pereyra is WS not OPP, Kukartsev is an OPP not MB.

Sorry, I used to copy to not write it all every time; that's why there were mistakes. :aww:

BTW Pereyra is both WS and OPP. :win:

I know but here he's being used as WS, even though he's a danger to his own team playing that X(

  • This is the first game from this championship I'm watching and it's so weird (but nice!) to see Sidão back. These months away (obviously) made him a lot less bulked up.

Vissotto, as expected, remains a mess. I hope he and Bruno manage to find a better synchrony playing together more often in this next Superliga, otherwise I really don't see him keeping his starter position next WL.

  • Congratulations to Brazil! They won it again. I thought it will be 3x1, however Argentina fought till the end.

    3x2 (19:25, 25:20, 25:19, 24:26, 15:10)

In the 4th set, Argentina was 21-24. They scored 5 points in the row. Nicolas Uriarte was superb with the serves.

  • Congratulations to Brazil! :cup: :woohoo:
