2015 FIVB World League

  • Ankle sprain of medium severity for Lanza who is trying to get well for final 6, but personally I disagree: unnecessary risk because Poland and Serbia at the moment are stronger than us even with Lanza, so he should rest and rehabilitate in order to get ready for World Cup with Juantorena and Parodi.

Totally agree. Lanza has been trying very hard and proved his worth, so no doubt that he would contribute better to the team after he is fully rehabilitated.

  • Poland got the easier group imo, so you guys shouldn't worry. The other one, with Brazil, USA and (hopefully) France, however...

You don't root for Aleksiev? He made a Kirally performance in attack yesterday :)

  • How serious is Skrimov's injury? Hopefully Skra didn't buy him before that.

"[I]t became clear that Skrimov has a partial tear of the muscle. The news was announced by the Bulgarian National Television. It is expected Sunday Skrimov to undergo a thorough examination after which it becomes clear how much will be absent greeters. In any case, Skrimov will recover at least a few weeks and will miss the finals in Varna after 7 days." --- http://www.sportal.bg/news.php?news=555408

Why don't you want to try Randazzo and Zaytsev on attack in starting six?

  • Why don't you want to try Randazzo and Zaytsev on attack in starting six?

    1) Randazzo: one of the most overrated italian player: he can only jump and spike with powerful arm, but he doesn't have dexterity and technique which could allow him to use the block-out, the lobs etc. Moreover, he can't send a single bagher to his setter. Great athlet, nothing more. Maybe he should tray to become a sky jumper :D

    2) Zaytsev is an Opp, nothing more. When he attacks from the right of the net (zone 1 or 2) he's a great player, one of the strongest in the world, but when he plays as OH and attack from zone 4, he's a mediocre player.

Hoping that Lanza will not play the final 6 in order to rest and prepare for World cup, Antonov (good and underrated player) should be in the starting 6, not Randazzo. The second OH should be Zaystev ok, but only because Juantorena, Lanza, Parodi and Kovar are all injured at the moment. When they are fine, Zaytsev should play as Opp.

  • Iran federation president announced that FIVB suggested that next year edition group 1 will be held in 3 pools! and the format will be like group 3 where all countries travel to a country for the matches every week (the old format) and World league will finish in 1 month (3 weeks preliminary round and 1 week final) this will be decided in the World League committee in 15th August.

Reasoning for the 1 month is with the Olympics coming, they want to shorten the season for the World League. It will be similar to 2012, all teams play 3 matches against the 3 other teams in each group in one weekend. Only 4 weekends to get the Intercontinental Round complete.

All of the current Group 1 teams will remain. Russia will not be sent to Group 2.

Group 2 winner will advance to Group 1 anyways.
France will be promoted even without winning Group 2
Bulgaria probably goes up, Canada probably as well and Belgium or Netherlands.

FIVB could just take all of the group 2 pool winners.

  • Yes, the reasoning for the format is Olympics, but reasoning for holding it in 3 groups maybe is Russia as people said here before

  • Argentina responded and Salparov is awful at reception today. Nikolay Nikolov has injury, Zhekov was sibstituted, Todorov fell.

  • Zhekov, Skrimov and Penchev, all three with similar problems in two days, this is no coincidence! What is their training and their supplementation?

  • Nikolov's point was our point, only the last is doubtful

  • Wtf those refs are ridiculous
