Altinli Kurogo has a very strong personality. Stronger than all the members combined. She is Toray's captain, her bestfriend in Toray, Ogawa also said she has a dominant attitude. Nothing of that sort would happen and she wouldn't even be the ace if Koga had any say. None of them are like that.

Kurogo seems stressed on court. Do you guys think her deteriorating performance on court is due to this ACE issue?
it could be possible. I mean, ACE is already a heavy word, and it was before her name, ACE Kurogo. Looking at how this term is perceived, especially in Haikyuu when ACE is "the savior", "the most reliable", and so on of the team, she must feel it.
-
isnt this is like her first olympic? why are they doing this to her? Poor Kurogo
Only Araki and Shimamura are the repeat olympians in the first 7.
-
"Ace" is not a volleyball thing. It's a Japanese thing, it's a part of their culture. Even Yakuzas had aces.
-
I think she was appointed as is since she's the one who needed to breakout.
Koga is no doubt the best OH in Japan. Ishikawa had back to back MVPs in major competitions in 2019. Kurogo was almost promising in VNL 2018/2019 but was converted as OP in the league's season. That was jusy anticlimactic for her development and she never got the chance to peak, even until now.

It's weird how usually the ACE should be the one who already had a breakout. They earned the title with how much they had before.

exactly. all the more suspicious to make kurogo the lead ace.
-
anyway in the end, a title is just that - a title. without any achievements they mean nothing
-
I hope she can pick herself up. And when she rises from the ashes, she'll be deadly.
-
To rise from the ashes, you'd have to be going through an adversity. Does underperforming count as an adversity or is she simply not good enough?
-
Japan needs a make over. Enough with these short players that lack power. Ebata and Sakoda are short but they have power. Dont Japan has at least 180+ on their junior team?

Japan no longer has Saori's height OH in their junior team.

We never knew what's adversity that she faced during the process, we just see the result. She was really promising before, and she's quite powerful. That's why maybe she faced many adversities and influencing her performance, and led to be seen as not good enough.

What seems to be the problem? Do they refuse to take tall players or what?

I get what you're trying to convey but I don't think she's cut out to be an opposite. They could put her back to being an OH if that would make her better. Being moody because you're not the best is not an adversity. Every athlete in the NT has to live up to something regardless of titles.

There are tall players but their positions are not fixed. They sometimes play OH/MB. And we know they are not/will not be good enough.

Japan needs to stop with this changing position all the time 😂

Is that really the case? Who are these taller players? Which clubs?

U18 training pool in 2019, the most recent I could find. A lot of them are in the clubs now, except 5, 9, 12.
