I think Ortolani can play well. She can replace del core. Let go of Rinieri, her time has finished. I think Italy has to utilize younger players as Picci, Lo Bianco, Gioli, Aguero are not-so-young anymore. Del Core is my favorite Italian player. ;( ;( ;(

Things change Joana! ;) Serbia in 2004 was like Italy in 1997. Serbia in 2006 was like Italy in 2002. So I expect Serbia to be on top of the volley World in the next few years, maybe competing for the gold at the London Olympics or even at 2010 WCH. At least I hope so.

Italy in 1997 started a project and I think Serbia started a project too, but a few years later (I guess in 2004). Correct me if I'm wrong.

Serbia is doing the right thing. Producing talented young players!!! Brakocevic already exploded. Malagurski, Nesovic ... may explode in the next years.

   Things do really change. I wouldnt be surprised if the "reinforced" Italy team takes the gold.

Italy defeated USA 3:O. I have a mixed emotions on this. Im happy that Lang Ping let Foluke played..She is the topscorer for the US with 11 points. However, im just annoyed with their performance..getting defeated in 3 sets..I was expecting this as Italy played with almost all of their starting line up in Beijing (with only Simona Gioli lacking). Taismary was Italy's top scorer( ). USA, on the other hand, didn't saw Scott-Aruda played.

you are right, italy didn t play well except piccinini, and ı think we deserved to win  but our team is so young a few years later, turkey will get great victories.. :win: congratulationd for turkey and italy...
if we beat USA tomorrow,we would play in final part

sadly, your team is not going in the finals. USA defeated Turkey 3:1.

Poland has one of the best players in world: Skowronska, Liktoras, Glinka, Podolec...I hope Bonnita will realize that. This team is capable of making upsets in Beijing!

    EDIT:

    My Favourite Team:

    USA (Women) POLAND (Women)
USA (Men) BRAZIL (Men) RUSSIA (Men)
    Foppapedretti Bergamo

    (W) Logan Tom, Kim Glass, Kim Willoughby, Kasia Skowronska, Maggie Glinka, Tayyiba Haneef, Heather Bown, Sheilla Castro, Mari Steinbrecher, Zhao Ruirui, Lyuba Kilic

USA-Poland 3:1. USA's victory was very easy to predict, but the last set (25:10) was a real disaster...

Tom didn't play. Anyway, i really thought that Poland's going to have their main players (Glinka, Skowronska, Podolec, Liktoras) back.

Shocking. 16 years old and 6'2 already. :-)

Well, it was a 5 set game, but China won in the end... :(

    China-Italy 3-2 (18-25, 25-20, 21-25, 28-26, 15-7)

What a great, spectacular match! China and Italy played at their best in the first 4 sets. In the tie-break Italy lost its confidence, and their playing was too nervous. And China..well, is China.
Both teams have very strong defenses, but I think what helped China today was a better block. As for Italy, Aguero made too many mistakes and China took advantage of it.
Anyway, it was a pleasure to see these two teams facing each other, I hope to see them again in the Olympics (but with a different result :D ).

I really thought that the game will reach 5 sets. And when its a 5-set match, expect atleast China to come on top. They play best when its crunch time. And i think, its safe to say that both teams paraded what could probably their line up in Beijing (ofcourse Italy played without Barraza).

I agree but i disagree as well. Yes, the US team isn't a stable team, they may be erratic, but I dont think their Level dropped. Proof to that is their Bronze @ World Cup. And I think, their first 6 is probably one of the best in the world, its just that they need to work on the team's chemistry...and that's what Lang is trying to do it now roughly 1 month before the OG.

About the Turkish team, atleast they are reaping the results of having a professional volleyball league in their country. I believe that they are a potential team so I hope they could work on it.

USA defeated Dominican Republic 3-0 (25-13, 25-21, 25-20). Haneef-Park and Glass tied for 14 points. I hope some Polish fans could upload the game on youtube. Thank you!

China beat Cuba in 5 sets (same with Brazil and same 5th set score...15-13). Zhao Ruirui again topscored the Chinese Squad. Looking forward for Italy-China game tomorow. :box:
