So many teams with good additions this year, Victorina, NEC, Hisamitsu, Denso, Queensies and JT. Toray and Saitama's foreign players have changed too so we shall see after one month into the season if they would make a big impact and jell with the Japanese players. Hitachi and Kurobe retained the same players mostly, while PFU, Aranmare, Gunma made some changes too but will not contend but may upset top tier teams in some games. Okayama, still all Japanese players and resistant to changes. This will be a good season to watch.

Himeji tanking on purpose to place eight seed and face Osaka in playoff match? Currently losing to Queensies at 0-2. Osaka is vulnerable to an upset even though they're top place during regular season, it happened on last year's finals and this year's Empress cup. Astemo Ibaraki still has to win all games remaining and Himeji to lose all their remaining games to switch standings at the end of season (not sure of tie-breaker points if both teams have the same win-loss card in the end). Highly unlikely but possible? As it stands right now if it holds till the end, NEC will play Himeji (#2 vs #7) and I think NEC defeats Himeji. You guys are the expert, just my observation.

Off topic, anyone knows the status of Ageo's other foreign import, Nika Malkovich (#11)? She is the only import who has yet to play in JVL I think.

No news yet on who's JTs imports are. Himeji looks like a strong contender for the crown this season and the Toray's rebuild line up will be in the mix too.

Jaja's husband used to be Liaoning's Asst Coach but has since moved to Philippines to coach a PVL team, NXLED Chameleons. Also rumored to assist in coaching the Phil Women's Volleyball National team.

More training opportunity for their rookies to see who's ready for the next level, I guess. It's a non-bearing game anyway for both teams.

Could be strategy? They will play Okayama for the semi-finals and Hitachi matches well with the Seagulls, both teams with no EU or American import during V1 season, except for Thatdao. Denso will play JT and has the advantage this time with Rosamaria.

What happens to the tournament prize money? Does it go to the players and coaching staff as bonus or to the team owner? Just curious. NEC got two big prizes this year from 2 tournaments.

JT's coach was outplayed in terms of substitutions. During the regular season, NEC played Yanagita and Hirota as OHs while Jaja was in and they were getting blocked. During the finals, NEC only played Yanagita while Okawa was in the middle. Acharapon and Andrews of NEC were too efficient during the finals while during the regular season, JT had them contained and blocked at times leading to wins.

Jaja played as OH before during her younger days in PVL in PI and in some Asian Games and she was effective. I was hoping JT would throw a curve ball and play Jaja as OH in one set with Okawa and Naruse as MBs since Tanaka and Wada struggled in the finals while Hayashi was injured. Not too familiar with VB rules but can you switch positions before the start of the set or substitute in a different position or do you have to stay as either MB or OH the entire game? Denso fields 2 MBs in some close game at times.

Oh the irony, Jaja left Ageo to win the championship with JT, Ageo is trying to win it all and will try to bump JT and Jaja along the way. Looks like #2 NEC had an easier path compared to JT. Was it worth it to be 22-0 and #1? It will be a bitter pill to swallow if JT doesn't get the invite to the dance.
