  • Seychelles' Nathalie Agnes, Gold Medalist of the 2011 8th Indian Ocean Island Games, wrote to Me, yes, yes, I have made a contact with Her last summer, that She will play in French League. She wants to play in higher level but probably at least She will play in France.

  • 1) Cannes vs Paris 3 / 1
Yan Fang's team played without Milena Rasic but easily won the 1st and 2nd sets. Yan Fang changed a lot of players during all the game, especially during the 3rd one, finally lost with a god reaction of Paris team moreover powered by agood Sona Mikyskova. In the 4th, with Vikka Ravva back, Cannes let Paris behind.
Main informations : a) Chiara Arcangeli is always a top class libero ! Very good game. :cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy:
    b) If the twins Lazic and T. Markevich (a shy start today) have the usual
Cannes players' morphology (i.e. thin ;) ), that's not the case of Brankica Mihajlovic,
Freya Aelbrecht and Ilka Van de Vyver (2nd setter). With them RC Cannes looks more powerful than previous years, especially at serve.
But as we could predict the reception remains a problem. So, as usual, from time to time, Fang played with 2 liberos (Chiara + Sophie Péron).
    c) Nadia Centoni MVP and good game by T. Kozlova.

    2) Albi vs Istres 3 / 0
    A scandal
Problems of visa for 2 Serbian players (see "Trophée Femina 2012" thread) ... and Istres played without all their foreigners. That means without the setter and the 3 MBs !!!! N. Camara hurt, Istres actually played with ... 7 girls :white: :white: :white: whose 2 non professional without their name on the shirt ... I don't know who is the responsible of this queer situation but ... because the championship can be distorted : 3 points for Albi, probably one of the weakest teams, it's a big present !

    3) Mulhouse vs Nantes 3 / 2
The big game of the day ! Very interesting. Mulhouse got a difficult start and Nantes won the 2 first sets with its " American legion ". Jenna Hagglund :cheesy: is a good setter and although new in the team she behaved like the leader exactly as she would have been here since 10 years. She found her attackers, Mirjna Duric (SER) and Kristy Jaeckel (USA), in excellent position many times.
In Mulhouse side, Tatjana Bokan :cheesy: and Armelle Faesch :cheesy: only played regularly well. Both saved their team in 4th and tie break. A great performance.
Many reception problems for Mulhouse especially in the 2nd set.

  • 1) Calais vs Venelles 3 / 1
As usually "Latina" Calais squad played its quick and efficient volleyball.
MVP : Loraine Henkel (GER), MB Calais.
    ...
    2) Béziers vs Evreux 3 / 1
First game a little bit more difficult than we could think for the growing French team Béziers.
Amazingly "without" block defence in the 2nd set, the southern team led by Patricia Aranda Munoz faced a squad who, as Venelles, looked stronger than previous year.
MVP : Alesha Deesing (USA), MB Béziers.

    3) Hainaut vs Le Cannet 3 /2 (15 / 13)
Many new faces in both teams but northern French team presented one who looked more trained and experienced (Antonja Kaleb, Anna Barnak-Maric, Dusanka Karic, Daniella Vieira da Silva, Nicoletta Manu) led by a constant and clever setter, Romina Lamas.
Some rub ;( between the 2 coaches at the end of the 2nd set : Riccardo Marchesi talked too much with the referees and Ion Dobre was upset. But all was much cooler  until the end despite the tension of a close tie break.
Moreover Le Cannet was very unlucky with the loss of 2 important players, Sanja Bursac (ankle) and Jamie Thibeault (hand) in the beginning of the game. Marchesi's team had to struggle 4 sets with only 7 players. They did rather well especially in the 4 th set where they were led 1/ 2 and 18/21 Rather good start for Mallory Steux, Milagros Collar and the young Elisabeth Fedele (18 years old).

MVP : Alexandra Crncevic (SER), OH, Le Hainaut.

  • thanks for the updates CarduCat!! :drink:

Always a pleasure to watch these 2 volleyball days at the beginning of each French season :wavy:

  • The official stats for Albi/Istres are wrong
Confusion between Camara (who didn't play at all) and Rico (who played) :S

  • dont trust any statistics from this open generali (they are wrong on a lot of data, especially on reception)...and maybe not until the day 3 or 4 of french league.
its just a scandal what do the league about this this summer : they change the software, didnt organised nothing to teach to the scout of the clubs how to use it,etc...
what a pity for one PROFESSIONNAL league !

Les pieds dans le fumier, mais toujours le verbe haut et la tête droite ! Cocorico !

  • 36 points and 67% in attack after 5 sets is PHENOMENAL, but what I find more impressive is reception after 36 balls, 81%!
    WOW!!!!! :obey:

  • Bokan 36 points with 67% in attack??? :white: If those stats are correct, it's very impressive :!:

yes, I think it's more or less correct
that's why I wrote she had saved (with the setter) her team

  • Cannes def. Nantes 3 / 1 (19-25 / 25-22 / 25-17 / 25-20)
