What? So is Foluke in Japan already?
Yes, Foluke is in Japan already. Springs posted a video of her via IG Story thanking everyone for the birthday greetings the other day.

Do we know all the current captains
Queenseis - Araki
JT - Kobata
Toray - Kurogo
Denso - Nabeya
Okayama - Kawashima
Hisamitsu - Toe?
-
The JT vs Hisamitsu match is made for the 2 southpaws. Provided Nagaoka doesn't get benched as their last option

I really need Nagaoka to pull through, her comeback has been dragged around since 2018. If she only remembers how to land with both legs she can last longer this season.

How many American players will be participating this season?

in Thai news, it said she didn't fly out with Pornpun and Hathairat, but will leave on October 9th instead. So she should be on her way by now and will have to quarantine once she arrives..missing maybe 2-3 games?

Just signed up for V.TV for the season for men and women. At 8800 yen, it is around $80. You do not need a Japanese address to purchase the service. Your credit card company may freak out with a foreign transaction.

Syuka Kaneda and I share the same birthday
Nice little interview with her (hat tip haru_12) where she talks about looking up to Moe Sasaki and Minami Yoshida as the "Seniors", and now that they've both retired she feels like she's the "ace" now.
Her favorite book that she's read many times is 「論語と算盤」 Theory and Arithmetic by Sakae Shibusawa(?). That's probably not a proper translation of the Title. It seems to be a book about business administration and morals. Anyhow, let's just say she's a geeky Gemini like me
Quote-What is the connection [of the book] to the valley (volleyball)?
I like the word "wisdom". It means that if the three balances of "knowledge (wisdom)", "emotion", and "will" are not connected, common sense cannot be achieved and results cannot be achieved. Even if you have knowledge, it is meaningless if you do not have emotions, if you have emotions but you do not have the will, you will be swept away, and if you have a strong will but you do not have the knowledge, you will become a stubborn person. I think that these three also lead to the valley.
No telling if she lives up to that high-highfalutin stuff but she seems to be taking her responsibility seriously. I hope she makes me proud this year and everyone knows her name by season's end. If JT and SAGA would just get out of the way it would be easier

In her interview for Gaora's Pre-V.League special that aired yesterday, Nakada chose Kurogo, Yoshino and Araki as power players
Yoshino has almost no hype around her. Let's see how well she does this seasonI guess she's not playing Nagaoka
I thought Yoshino was better in 2018-19 than 2019-20. This season will be the Tie Break!

Looks like Fumika Moriya has taken over as Captain of Denso. I like this development. SAGA bench warmer to contender captain. This'll be the first time in a while Denso will play two local MBs. I wonder if Riho Otake will finally return

In honor of signing my divorce papers from NEC, I re-watched the match that launched my foray into V.League volleyball. A foreigner free NEC upsetting reigning champions Thailand (Supreme) in the semifinals of the 2016 Asian Club Championship:
Mizuki Yanagita should have been MVP of the tournament but Sarina Koga actually played defense back then and was pretty good, too. Akari Oumi, Nami Sagawa. Yes!
And in the Final they put the clampers on China (Bayi)
Oumi was a vet but Koga, Yanagita, and Sagawa had all just turned 20 years old. And they went on to win the V.League Championship that season.

Speaking of NEC here's a 2-minute tweetbox video of new recruit (Tsukuba Scoring Machine) Moeka Kinoe from last year's Uni Final Match against Fukuoka. She won Best Spiker and Best Scorer (thanks to my favorite setter Manami Mandai) and got the last kill block for a 17-15 win.
#2 in Dark Blue for Tsukuba
