China NT 2023

  • Agree. I think Japan will defeat them if they perform like these past 3 matches. It seems their performances are worst than last year. Other than LYY, they need a better OH to support LYY. WYL did better today, don’t think she is adequate.

It's not that WYL is totally incapable, she occasionally hits winners with her big spikes, and against Brazil her service contributed to some vital points...but she can't manage OOS sets, easily blocked and is inconsistent..someone pointed out that in the match against Brazil she made 28 attempts and scored only 6 points !

  • My suggestion for the next round...

Get Wu Meng Jie (OH), Zhuang Yushan (OH/OP) and Zhou Yetong (OP)

    to replace...

WYL, Du QQ and Yang HY (MB).

Our two main MBs are doing ok and there is Gao Yi as backup, why not let another OH/OP take her slot?

  • Unfortunately, there’s not a chance in the world that Cai will replace WYL!

    Exactly:mad::mad::mad::mad::wall::wall::wall::wall:

  • I'm predicting Japan will take China 3-1, with how efficient, fast, and organised their plays are. If our dear China wants to win, it'll probably take 3-2 against the Japanese (sadly to say)

  • Why do you all think that Japan will win? So far, they've only beaten Dominican Republic which is a somewhat strong team. The other two were Bulgaria and Croatia...

  • BTW, I saw some posts in the Women's VNL thread that Zhu TIng has ruled out the possibility of returning this year because her recovery is not 100% yet to join the gruelling NT training? Does anyone have any extra news on this?

  • i wonder why only 🇨🇳team has specialist setter for 1 certain group and another setter for another group. Other countries their setters do not have such thing.

If by “certain group” you mean a particular club, I think it’s only natural that a setter would work better with her teammates in the same club...and it would be similar in other countries too. However, the NT squad, with players from different clubs have been training and staying together for around 3 months, so I think tactically and socially there should be more cohesion and camaraderie among them. The managers and coaches should try their best to make this happen.

A certain amount of clique forming/antagonistic feelings do exist between two or more teams, like Tianjin and Jiangsu for instances, but they’re usually caused by and blown out of proportion by the two sets of opposing netizens throwing vicious and toxic insults and abuse at each other. Unfortunately this rub off on the two groups of players sometimes.

what I mean say Diao usually plays with GXY, LYY, WYL,etc When the setter is changed / replaced the usual lineup of OP and OH are changed. Other countries NT, they change OP and OH their main setter do not change (stay on) often. I do not see the tactic of 🇨🇳🏐 has big advantage instead it is a disadvantage.

    oic...... :)

In the past when the NT was more stable, we kept the main setter, for example, Ding Xia when OH/OP substitutions were made iirc. If you are referring to today’s match against Netherlands. Zhong Hui replaced WYL in the middle of set2, but Diao stayed and was replaced by Xu at a later stage, I believe. Anyway, I missed the whole of set 3 and parts of set 4 as well, so I could be wrong.

I'm wondering the same thing. None of those wins was very convincing either. Japan's got a lot of green: both MBs and the libero are new to NT life. Koga's there, doing okay but not killing it. The other pins are sophomores. Hayashi's doing great, but just China without Zhu doesn't mean they are a weak team by any stretch. I think it will be a fun match

exactly. can go either like VNL last year or WCH last year. Who knows what would happen.

Wang Yuanyuan could beat them single-handedly. That's what I'll be looking for (frightened)

  • That's one of those photoshopped meme-y shenanigan things, right?
