I have no problem if Brazil qualifies for final round because they really deserve it, but right now they're winning only because of China disastrous performance and that annoys me. How many serves did China miss in this set??

I really hope China beats Brazil today, it would be nice for our team to be able to play final round even though it can't compensate for missing OG. The team showed in this tournament how they are capable to play with longer preparation and after a not so good first round (luckily we had easy opponents with DOM and TPE there), their performance constantly improved. Most of all, the new players in first six Denise Hanke and Lenka Dürr showed great matches. Hanke is 3rd in best setter statistics now, Dürr is best digger, best libero and 2nd best receiver :obey:

By the way, Poland doesn't have a chance for final round anymore. Even if they beat Italy 3:0, Germany still has better sets ratio.

Czech libero Jasova seems injured, she sits on the bench and looks like she can't play, already yesterday Bednarova played as libero instead. Today also Vanzurova sits on bench...I hope they don't have anything serious and can recover until F4.

I know Cuba had a own league 2010/2011 season and also many seasons before that...did they close it last year?

It's not really an answer to your question and it's also kinda off topic, but I just remembered that in one article of the best known German volleyball journalist after men OQT was written that some Cuban players joined the party of German men after qualifying for OG and they told that after failing to qualify for OG they will be able to play abroad next season. I don't know if it's true and if it is, if it's the same for Cuban women, but it would surely be good for them.

I forgot about that one :aww:

Yepp, I remember that ^^ I know she has potential is reception, because she showed that already in some matches in Moscow, but sometimes it can fall of completly too...but the ground is there, so if she just finds the consistensy I see no problem...most important is too gain confidence in it IMO, many times she makes errors there because she´s afraid making errors.

Yeah that's true, it's also my experience as player that of all elements, reception is the one that depends most on mental aspects and concentration. Having the coach's confidence certainly helps, and he was smart enough to already let her receive during the season in Dinamo sometimes, so it didn't come totally unexpected in summer.

Turkey is still a team that has no success at all in either WCH, OG or World Grand Prix and never been in a final in ECH, too say they SHOULD take a medal in OG is close too insanity.

Turkey actually was in ECH final 2003 (at home) and also in final of European OGQ 2004, but apart from that, I agree. They're a good team and they certainly have the potential to beat big teams, but expectations should not be too high.

About Goncharova's reception, she received in WOQT and did fairly well there. We attributed it to her having "Obmochaeva" on the shirt now because her husband is a libero ;)

I have a big respect for Weiss 'cause she has worked so hard to go to Olympics since 5-6 but after ECH her performance went down so poignantly..She had a very bad performance in Ankara so I believe this break will be good for her..She is still young and can make it to Rio still..

Yeah, Weiss worked hard for many years, but the truth is that she never was an outstanding player. A good and solid one, yes, but never great. I think Hanke (and also Apitz, if she returns) both have much bigger potential and even right now they are already better than Weiss.

The main problem I noticed when I watched her was that often she doesn't get her hand on the ball well, so she can't control where to attack to and it can result in awkward-looking mistakes like balls that fly several meters out or land full in the net.

I remember watching Collar live last year and I couldnt belive she wasnt playing in any of the better leagues back then, and I guess I still wonder. Her stats in Serie A2 last season was nothing special. Its surprising since she has everything to be good, very good physical skills first of all, hits hard, jumps good.

But she lacks the most important thing to be really good: technical skills. Even though it seems she had a very good match today, it's a long way for her to become a really good player. It's also not easy because in the past she used to play as MB (and also in A2 she played that position later in the season) and plays as Opp just since last year I think.

Wow, 4 sets decided by 2 points and 2 of them going over 30 :white: Sounds like an exciting match.

Any info why Brakocevic did not play after 3rd set? Please not another injury!!!

Brazil wasnt esp. good in 2008 WGP either, but they crushed in the OG anyway so the results here might not be too important obviously. But whats much more worrying for the samba team is that many of their main players not been in good shape for long time or comes from bad last seasons like Matthias already explained.

Yeah, and Brazil after all still is a strong team, but they are far away from the dominance they had in OG 2008 and I really cannot see them getting close to that in the next 6 weeks, even though I'm sure they'll make some improvement.

By the way, Cuba 41 :!: errors in 5 sets!

I didn't count Cuba's errors in 5th set but I think it must have been about 7-8, and it's impossible to win a tie-break with that many errors. The result could have been even clearer...
