US NCAA Women's VB

  • Thank you again. That's very helpful

No problem! I like to blabber lol.

Koerber and Drews are interesting if teams are looking for a "different" look. Both are left handed and both are primary passers. Drews is probably undersized to play on the right (6'0), but Koerber can play both sides (6'3).

Hilley is the best setting prospect. Lilley is undersized (5'11) but is the best backrow defender as a setter (besides Hames from Nebraska)

I think they need 3 players, 2 OH/OPP who are very good attackers (the team struggle to score) and 1 MB who is good at both attacking and blocking.

Let's see if they can get these players.

  • me too. i'm surprised they didn't keep atkinson. Or was she poor with them? Shes not with a club right now (waiting for the american league)

She was improving her performance game by game. She was doing very good IMO. But after Coronavirus she turned to USA immediately, I believe without club's knowledge. Maybe that's why she chose American league, she might feel safer

It was said that she left to go home without Nilufer's approval when the pandemic started getting worse, the club was probably angry and cut ties with her.

  • My biggest concern is a lot of players will remain in college (which is good for them, they'll get their graduate school paid for) but then in 2022 there will be a large pool of American players, with little spots to go to

Also a short amount of time to prepare and gain experience by Paris 2024, if that is their goal.

  • does anybody know where the youngest bosetti's sister is playing?

Is she good? I think that this year she finish

    Chiara?

She's playing for American University. Not the best, but her team made the NCAA tournament.

Her stats don't jump out, but life is rough as a 5'7 OH. Looks like she was a defensive specialist as well.

  • Some details about the spring season are starting to come out.

Spring season will begin on January 22.

The Final Four and Championship will be in Omaha April 22/24 or 23/25.

Practices for teams not playing in the fall were allowed to begin on October 12.

The Big Ten conference will play 11 weeks, 5 home/5 away with one week being split with a travel partner. The home/away weeks will have two matches against the same opponent. There will be no non-conference matches for the Big Ten.

  • A good match from last night between Mizzou and an underrated Arkansas team. Mizzou are missing Leketor Member-Meneh (opted out due to covid-19 but we know there's some team/coach drama there) and Omazic who tore her ACL in the last match. Deberg went off in this match.

Also tonight is going to be the clash of the season. Baylor vs Texas. They play tonight and tomorrow at 7pm CST. (1am UK time)

  • I see a Texas sweep in both probably, but it'll have the best hitters against each other this season. Logan vs Yoss will be good.

Hopefully Baylor's setter is back from injury. Their backup is.... not ideal lol

That doesn't sound good, hopefully they can steal least 1 set in either or both matches.

Odd question, but is there a link or website to see how teams placed as far as recruitment class goes? I always wondered how teams adjust after losing a key player or a large senior class.

Or even a link to foreign players in the NCAA?

  • I've watched some matches of Texas so far this season and their big weakness, as always, is their reception:roll: Which is a shame, because they have one of the best middle blocker duo in the country with Butler and O'Neal. Unfortunately they aren't used much in attack, because of the bad reception and Gabriel doesn't involve them since she isn't the most creative setter. Luckily for them they contribute a lot with their block. One thing I know for sure: they are very lucky O'brien is their new starting libero! She is able to cover a lot of ground in reception. Next to that she is great in defense! Also now they can use their former libero as back row specialist to stabilize the receiving line-up. Eggleston and Fields are their big weapons in attack from the left side, but their game is easy to read in this way...

VolleyballMag does a good job of compiling rankings. Here is the most recent recruiting class (they'll be the youngest playing this fall)

    https://volleyballmag.com/ncaa-recruiting-ranking-050120/

As for foreign players, it's usually just a "research and look for yourself"

VolleyballMag has a list from last season https://volleyballmag.com/ncaa-foreign-players-120619/

I'll try to compile a list of foreign players in the power conferences later if you'd like.
