Individually I mean because I wanna see where Kubota falls.

Also, what do you think of PFU's Acosta? I haven't seen any match with PFU yet only clips and I remember Yamada getting giddy about blocking her once lol

    This is awkward :rolll:

It's insane to try and describe how to find that information on the JVL site, so I paste it here [Edit] If she ranked top 15 you can find that here. Once you go below 15 it's a deep dive

I haven't watched an Acosta match either. Looks tough in clips. I'm liking PFU with that little whippersnapper :super:

  • lmao, don't 🙅🏻‍♂️ enough veterans in NT

I'm with you in theory , but Shimamura is making young punk Yamada look like an old lady these days.

  • Nanami Seki is the key player for Toray Arrows so far. I watch most of the videos shared by brother Sitenoise and she makes a huge difference with her setting on point. I can say the same for Miyashita for Okayama Seagulls.

  • what do you think of PFU's Acosta? I haven't seen any match with PFU yet only clips and I remember Yamada getting giddy about blocking her once lol

DAZN matches seem to be down to a 7 day wait, which is way cool, so the NEC v PFU showed up. I had been watching V2 matches and often think there's not much difference from V1. I mean, in basic skills, not so much in game smarts. But after a few V2 matches I flipped on the NEC v PFU match and it seemed explosive in comparison. Maybe just closer, better video.

Anyway, so ... Acosta seems like a pretty good fit for PFU. She's quick enough and athletic enough she doesn't get in the way. And she can receive and pass a volleyball. She receives serve (or in transition) in zone 6 and then back attacks it. That's a pretty cool play. She tends to hit the ball long every now and then. My main concern about her is that she doesn't seem like an up-with-people happy smiley player like, say, Hannah Tapp or Annie Drews. She's not Brankica level pouty bad but PFU needs to maintain positive vibes to lift them up. NEC clobbered them and their spirit didn't suffer too much, but they don't play well from behind. They will only be a danger if they get out to a early lead and maintain it. That will be hard for them to do three sets but they're working on it :)

Yamada did seem to have something going on with Acosta. One time Yamada missed the block, sending the ball out of bounds for a block out and she fell to her knees in response. Aw Shucks!

That's good to hear. You watch volleyball with a different set of skills than I have. I remember commenting that she seemed to be more accurate when she had to run after the ball than when it came right to her. Let me know if you notice that some day -- or the opposite of it :)

I like my setters to be cute and play defense, like Misaki Inoue and Tamaki Matsui :P

  • Check the bicep on Miyashita Yamashita:

  • how is her block stats? I saw few match stats and she got 0 haha

well rn she might be >>> than Aya Watanabe

We're talking about middle blockers here. What do blocking stats have to do with it? :rolll:

  • Phoenix don't you think Kubota is kinda like another version of Mayu Ishikawa? Takahiro Yamamoto also said they look like sisters (he was the MC for College VB matches too so google if you don't know) that pale, big eyes, high nose bridge and a fridge body. Obviously Mayu is stronger now but they both have the same whipping style. Are you with me or nah

You seem to love all the girls with big eyes

Takaso was it? I think I'll stan her too.

The only issue I have with PFU is their cringy, narcissistic coach who always has to insert himself everywhere. I remember during the vleague live presscon he was waving at the camera and thinking who tf is that. It's not like anyone else was waving... they should get rid of him regardless of how much ~joy he brings to the team.

They're both the prettiest in their respective teams imo. Doe eyes are like a weakness I guess. Pair that with their smiley energy and you've got a winner

Playing-style wise I'm not sure if they are similar. Kubota only looks like a heavy hitter when compared to Uesaka sometimes but compared to Mayu her swing isn't as fast and loaded. Mayu is all about using force but I think Kurogo is still superior to her in terms of attacks.

Yeah, Minami Takaso, which translates as "High Phase Minami" :super: 164cm with 3 blocks on the season! Good on her for blowing past 3 or 4 more experienced players for the starting spot. My favorite from her is her serve. It's the most lollipop thing ever. The suspense of will it or won't it make it over the net

I know what you mean about PFU Coach, but he seemed like an improvement when he took over last year, and given the team's improvement, and re-focus, I'm gonna give him a break ... for a little while.

  • I never thought about Kubota and Ishikawa sisterhood. I can see it in the eyes, but Kubota has lips, and generally more flesh to her face than Ishikawa. Kubota seems more athletic to me but Ishikawa is probably just more frugal with her energy.

Kubota seems a little off to me this year compared to last, but she's still the real deal as far as I'm concerned

  • I love this: A Uniform Championship (hat tip haru_12 )

Legendary Forest Leaves 57% win the opening match against Gunma Bank 42%

Stylin' Himeji 66% wins match 2 against Breath Hamamatsu 34%

PFU v Chiba Angel Cross has 2 hours left to vote. PFU leading 65% to 34%

Kurobe 62% out to a commanding lead over Hiroshima 38%. Eight hours left to vote. You should vote for Hiroshima

It's on the JVL tweetbox mess of crap about who I should follow and things that are trending and a bunch of other bullshit I fucking hate being subjected to, so no links, but go find it and vote!
