Japan - V.League V1 (Division 1, Women) 2020-2021

  • Looks like JT is going to do their part, but all for naught :(

  • Who won between JT and Denso.

    JT 3–2 Denso

    Thatdao 12/23 and 7 blocks

  • Who won between JT and Denso?

    JT 3-2

Okayama cannot take advantage of Denso's losses. Denso will only get to 19 matches played. Right now they have the win percentage advantage over everyone become they have the fewest matches played between Okayama, Saitama and Hisamitsu.

A single win by Denso would at worse put them at 11-8 (.5789). A win by Okayama in their final match puts them at 12-9 (.5714). Saitama with 2 wins would be at 12-8 (.600). Hisamitsu with a win in their final game will be 11-10 (.5238) so they are eliminated from Final 4 contention.

  • Himeji import can't even get a start in this scrimmage game :white: kinda feel bad for her

  • Not that anyone cares :) but this Himeji v Himeji match is great  They're playing for real and Coach Manabe's team is getting killed, but he's coaching the underdogs for sure

  • Manabe gave up and quit. Yoshie Takeshita is the new coach of the underdogs

  • Kurobe really misses Mabashi, but this is NEC v2.0, where a player of Neriman's caliber has been the weakest of the three pins. That's pretty nuts. Ueno's been playing for Yamada and scoring a lot better. Not blocking as well, though

  • Takeshita brought Vic to a deuce set but Rina is too much for Vic. Manabe's going to try again, maybe use more computer this time

Saki Tanaka got the Flowers and Barbie Bake at Home Toaster after the Himeji Himeji match

Saitama has had this habit the last few years of looking like crud at the beginning of the season, finishing strong and sneaking in. If they beat NEC they deserve a spot in the Top 4. But Denso would also have to lose another one (SAGA or NoSmilers), which is likely. If Denso wins both, they go.

Be sad if things go hardcore tragic for Denso again. Their habit has been: play solid and fall off a cliff at the end

  • Next weekend is the last weekend of the season. 1-2 games left for everyone.

for whatever reason, the league went with a hard schedule because those extra weeks for the national team practice for the VNL and Olympics were so important for Nakata. It made no sense to start with. They only had 22 games to play and they couldn’t get them in. Yes the league switched the regulations to say if they could get a half season in, but to having no extra padding on such a short schedule is well incoherent in a risk adverse country.

Hopefully those 1-2 games are final because I saw on Hisamitsu's website they're still displaying a match with Toyota on March

I'm curious as to what's happening to Sato now. I'm surprised no one is questioning how she will jump right into the NT in time for major games and will most likely be the main setter just like that.

  • Easy playoff breakdown

    1. Toray can't move

    2. JT win twice will be 2nd. 1-1, sets ratio and possibly points ratio

    3. NEC win and wait on JT results. 2 JT losses put them 2nd.

    4. Denso win twice 4th place. A loss to Okayama, give Saitama and Okayama a chance. Two losses eliminates them

If losing to Okayama on Saturday, must win on Sunday against Hisamitsu and have Saitama lose to NEC.

    5. Saitama win vs. NEC and one loss by Denso.

    6. Okayama Denso must lose twice and Saitama must lose.

    7. Hisamitsu could move up to 6th but stuck in 5-8 group

    8. Toyota needs a loss by Hitachi (sets ratio probably goes to Toyota) to stay 5-8 group

    9. Hitachi must win twice and Toyota lose to get into 8th.

10-12 Kurobe, Himeji and PFU are all stuck in the relegation group, just the number would change.

March match is part of the V Cup. Check the first post in this thread for the schedule.

Sato is on the injured list. She was made a "coach" so she could be in the huddle without taking up a roster spot.
