Oeeeh thanks for the info! Gonna watch it curious to see how this (almost) new Potsdam is doing
-
When did Tutku become so good? I don't remember her playing anywhere close to this level in Fener. Good for her.
Also, Marring seems like a really promising player. Nederlands really have a couple of really talented players coming up and they just signed a good young coach to grow with them. Their future looks bright.
-
I don't understand Potsdam's serving strategy, why go to Bock all the time when she receives very well? They should target Marring more often
-
Potsdam is just so all over the place. They look like it's the first match they played together after a long break. Absolutely nothing is working at the moment.

Schwerin - Potsdam 3:0 (21, 19, 22)
https://live.volleyball-bundesliga.de/2023-24/Women/2014.pdf
MVP: Tutku Burcu Yüzgenc / Justine Wong-Orantes
Schwerin looked much more solid than in Supercup and Potsdam was quite disappointing, nothing really worked well for them. I liked Guncheva a lot in their match vs Dresden but today she was quite bad, but Lazaro didn't look any better when she entered, plus the MBs were a total non-factor.
-
What an improvement by Schwerin compared to last week's Super Cup, much more stable reception line! Also I somehow thought Linda Bock was a libero, but I guess not because she has a great attack and is actually quite tall
For Potsdam there is room for improvement but the talent is there for sure. Guess they'll just need some time to build together. Cekulaev was great wish she was chosen as MVP but JWO also had some great digs!
- edit: Just looked at the stats and I really thought Cekulaev had scored more attacks, guess the ones she díd make were just so impressive she clogged my memory with it
-
No idea why, but some Chinese guy is streaming Stuttgart vs Vilsbiburg
EDIT Apparently the stream doesn't work properly now, maybe it will be back later
EDIT2 It's working now but unfortunately the quality is, let's say "shaky"...

Aachen - Wiesbaden 0:3 (24, 21, 23)

MVP: Laura Berger / Marie Hänle
Stuttgart - Vilsbiburg 3:0 (23, 15, 16)

They already announced that they protest against the decision because it was made without even officially hearing Hollosy.

A short look in the first round of the national DVV cup finals: all participants are now determined and the only case, where the teams of the new second league VBL Pro failed to grab a ticket was in regional division North, where the amateurs of third league (effectively fourth league now) of VC Stralsund funnily defeated both Pro teams, their own, the Wildcats Stralsund as the ETV Hamburg. They face now Dresden. In South (BW) no Pro team was eligible to participate (Flacht was too low last season for it) and there Konstanz also from third (i.e. fourth) league came through, facing Suhl. The three 2. Pro vs. 1. league duels are Erfurt vs. Wiesbaden, Dingolfing vs. Aachen and Borken vs. Stuttgart.
-
It's actually a total joke that either Münster, Aachen or Neuwied (not really) will qualify for the playoffs. The Volleyball Bundesliga urgently needs more teams again. So it's all a bit boring.

Second league pro looks promising, it is well possible, that aside from the champion of this new league even one or more teams want go to first league.

I don't think so, the gap is still very big. IMO only Erfurt has the necessary professional structures to play 1st league but it's questionable if they'll return there already after one season in 2nd.

But the winner of the league has to pay money for not going up into first league - a strong motivation to do so. And others might find more money by sponsors and could want too - only time will tell.

But this statement is only true for Erfurt and Straubing. The other teams all have a three-year exemption where they can waive promotion free of charge. So only if Erfurt or Straubing take one of the top three places and the better placed teams forgo promotion do they have to pay a deposit, which they can get back. From my personal point of view, Straubing will not take one of the top three places.
Erfurt, on the other hand, is of course a big favorite for first place, I think. But even here there are question marks as to whether the club will really be promoted. Because of the sponsors they decided to go down because the sponsors didn't just want to see defeats, but also victories. That's why the sponsors had actually ruled out a direct re-promotion. I don't know whether the deposit of around 10,000 euros will change anything.

A funny thing, maybe someone else noticed it too: Dresdner SC initially assumed that they would play against the Stralsund Wildcats and had already published an Instagram post for the cup game. It was only later that the club realized that they were playing against the second representative, so they deleted the actual post and published a new post.

Interestingly, today, after the discussion on this topic here yesterday, there was an article at the Sportschau that was prepared by SWR and that was why the Allianz MTV Stuttgart was mentioned in particular.
