The drummer drumming on Court C is a Fukuoka fan, so every time Fukuoka scores a point I get annoyed That's not how it should be
70th All Japan Intercollegiate Women's Championship 2023 (Nov 28–Dec 3)

Tsukuba combinations are to die for. Not Thailand level because they are slower, but still confusing
Haruka Oyama already has her V.League haircut
-
The lighting in this court L is bad
-
Yeah, bummer. It's KLM in the Machida City, and the Meikai match I kinda wanted to watch is in Machida City basement. They all suck
The Ryukoku – Kansai Welfare match is shaping up to be pretty tight. Ryukoku in blue is Kansai champ and I think they are losing 1–2--can't really see the scoreboard. And getting close to losing the match
-
Ryukoku lost. Kansai welfare was 8th place, so I'm calling that the first upset of the tournament
Nihon could be a dark horse team. They have no chance of winning the tournament but they might beat someone who does, throwing a wrinkle into things. They have that Best Spiker/Best Blocker award winning MB

Coming up:
Tokai – Keiai is in the good gym with zoomer cam but it will likely be a very lopsided match. Tokai lucky drawNSSU – Nagasaki is in the other decently lit gym and should be a good match. It's the one I'm putting on the big screen
NIFS – Juntendo should also be competitive , medium frustrating in the Izumi City basement
Too bad Aoyama – Tezukayama is in the dark. Aoyama has a few players I like a lot--all juniors-- and they knocked Tsukuba out of the Empress Cup. I would like to watch them ... but that gym
Kobe Shinwa – Seinan Jo Gakuin is the other decently lit court. Don't know Seinan Jo at all
a few other matches in the dark
-
Juntendo 2–1 NIFS. This is the tragic match. Neither of these teams should go home in the 2nd Round, but one of them will
-
NSSU went with a couple reserves in Set 3 and let it slip, but in a rollicking 4th they sent Nagasaki packin'
A little tragic for Nagasaki, too. So good in 2021 but then everyone graduated. Still, they could have beaten half a dozen other teams in this round. Unlucky draw

A not-so fun fact is that Koji Hamada is the illegitimate child of legendary Oriental Witches OP Emiko Miyamoto. He was heavily criticized when NIFS appointed him as coach of the university's girls volleyball team when he was still in his early 20s and without any playing experience other than being Miyamoto's (illegitimate) son. NIFS is no Waseda by any means but during the early 2000s they were the only university with a profitable volleyball program at the time.

Two Tie Breakers tonight so far
TWCPE 2–2 Nihon. This is Nihon's dark horse moment https://univas.jp/enjoy/univas-live/?game=11267
Gifu Kyoritsu 2–2 Kansai Fukushi https://univas.jp/enjoy/univas-live/?game=11265
-
I only tuned in after the Fukuoka match. Nihon's "ace" MB Naka Hasebe didn't play set 4 and isn't lined up for the Tie Break They have a MB, Aomi Takahashi, who was 186cm in high school. She's probably a couple cms taller now
-
Dark Horse Nihon it is
I'm a TWCPE fan but this was inevitable. TWCPE got the Empress Cup so they have something to do now that this tournament is over for them
I think Nihon will meet Tokai in the QF
-
Tokai v Aoyama . Will Aoyama knock Tokai out of this tournament like they knocked Tsukuba out of Empress Cup?
https://univas.jp/enjoy/univas-live/?game=11264
NSSU v Meikai . Meikai is the new up and coming team. Arina Tsutsumi has ditched her knee pads And they have a couple Champion Beach players. Always an advantage
https://univas.jp/enjoy/univas-live/?game=11266
Kobe Shinwa v Kansai .
https://univas.jp/enjoy/univas-live/?game=11265
JWCPE v Juntendo .

Meikai coming out hot Look out NSSU
Something's going on at Meikai. Skills. Maybe the coach. I don't know who it is
-
The Meikai NSSU stream is doing zoomers now too and is a lot more pleasant to look at than the Ota Ward Tokai match
-
Meikai 2515 NSSU
Loving this Meikai team. Super cute libero doesn't hurt. Tsutumi is doing these very nice cut up the middle smashers
-
NSSU deploying countermeasures in set 2

Tokai OH #2 Haruko Sasaki could help Prestige (or Kurobe)
