If we fail to make it... CVA should be blamed for appointing CB and letting him have a free hand. He's not a coach you'd want in your team. I mentioned his shortcomings before and there are too many to repeat here.

Since 2015 no NT coach would touch WYL. But once CB was appointed, he picked her for every tournament and even start every match. It is as if he signed a contract with her. She was a disaster in last year's VNL, but he still kept her and CVA kept him.

I wouldn't be that upset if we sent our best selection and still couldn't make it. But our best selection would include Zhuang YS and other deserving players and definitely exclude WYL !

DOM vs MEX... so contrast the two teams... MEX is so petite while DOM is sizeable and muscular, pretty tough for the Mexican girls.

    Blocking feast for DOM

When DOM is in form, they're very good, but they occasionally lose focus and can lose a set or two easily... probably why they're involved in so many 5 setters :|

That would be fair solution. But its kinda impossible. This would add 40 more people in Olympic Village and will increase number of matches in shedule table.

yes, it’s hard to do... but at at least you think it’s a fair solution, thanks

I don’t know why we’re having this big discussion and how it started... maybe it’s because the OQs are having a rest day, if they hadn’t , we’ll be talking about the live action instead, lolss

How about if we did this, increase the number of teams in the Olympics from 12 to 14,

12 teams will come from the OQs now going on plus the ranking teams after VNL next year, ie, follow the current plan. Have another competition involving Russia and 5 remaining top ranked teams which couldn’t qualify from the abovementioned pathway...play a round robin. Top 2 teams join the earlier 12 to make 14 teams. :/

If you ban Russian team from the international competitions that giving WR points, of course the team will have no chance to appear in the Olympics because its WR points won't be high enough. It simply kills the opportunity of a team with the very long and high esteem achievements in volleyball realm from the USSR era to Russian Federation.

That's not true. The new world ranking means that you don't get points just for participating in tournaments. You have to actually win matches against good opponents.

I think we had a team (USA) at 400 at one point, but now top is Turkey with 386.

Actually, I think both comments make sense in that 1) you don’t get points just for participating, but 2) if you are banned from participating then you don’t even have a chance to win against any good opponents (and I think Russia is capable of winning against some) :/

are you sure your eyes are not playing tricks on you?

well..I do have poor eyesight and they tire easily, but every time DQQ comes on for WYL there’s usually gasps of astonishment... in some of the other blogs, and that happened quite a few times during the VNL.. So, the rules I mentioned haven’t changed and DQQ actually came in only once per set ?

There was a time when substitution rules allowed Player B to replace Player A, and then if needed they switch back again, they’re allowed to do this one time per set. No third player...eg Player C is allowed to replace A or B in the same set.

But in this year’s VNL I have seen Du QQ coming in to serve for WYL at least twice in one set, multiple times .... for what purpose or benefit idk, because WYL’s serve is OK, certainly more effective than DuQQ’s

So what are the current substitution rules ?

An unconvincing win, but a win nonetheless... the main attackers were shaky today but WYY saved the day... the opponent making so many errors also helped. Need to do much better against Canada, NL , Dom, Czechia and Serbia. Maybe give WuMJ a chance to play tomorrow.. see if position 4 can be strengthened :/
