2014 FIVB World Grand Prix

  • this German team is playing so horrible :what: their reception is really poor and they couldn't compensate it by spiking, Kozuch was still on court even though she was useless; Beier showed again that she shouldn't be spiker and starter in this team, on the other hand Brinker wasn't much beter neither...
the best were their MBs and Apitz, main WS must play better or else Gio should give more chances especially to Lippman and Weihenmaier

Korean team is working quite good with this system, fortunately they have Kim, but Jae-Yeong Lee is making such a good impression 8o

about Serbia-Thailand: Terzic is too stubborn as always with Nikolic as starter who can't help team as she could few years ago... after injuries and maternity break she's not top player anymore... she was main serve target and Thai players used it smartly ^^ without Mihajlovic and Rasic result could have looked even worse; I don't know if it's good thing to blame OPs, but Malagurski with 6/19 and Bjelica with 2/13 spikes isn't a good sign

maybe Thai team didn't have superb % in terms of spiking, but they can fight effectively as we could see, Kiattipong made right choice with receiving OP in order to let Onuma spiking ^^ Ajcharaporn as new OP is doing not bad, if things go wrong there's still Malika on bench :wavy:

  • You're right, Ognjenovic and Bjelica didn't seem to have much chemistry on court today, which is odd considering they played at Chemik Police together last season.

Does anybody know why Zivkovic started? I mean Maja played the whole match vs Germany and Serbia won 3:0 so I have no idea what made Terzic start with Zivkovic.

Maybe he thought that game with Thailand will be easy 3-0 and let her rest, maybe Maja had minor health problems...

  • About Germany: I understand what Guidetti is doing out of the experience of the last years. Germany ALWAYS plays bad at WGP because it's the preparation for the big tournaments afterwards and there they always play 200% better. Because of that, it's important to keep the starters on court even if they are bad at the moment. They need time, they need to play bad to see what must be changed. While I certainly don't LIKE them playing bad, I'm not surprised and I trust Guidetti and the team that they'll be much better in WCH. It has been the same story every year...

  • the question is how much better? good enough to go to the semis? they are fortunate that in the wch pool d only have china and japan as strong opponents but if they were in group b they'd fall after the 2nd round.

  • Today game between Bulgaria and Kenya will be very interesting belive me :D
My prediction was 3:1 for Bulgaria, but if Kenya make less errors than who knows :box:

Croatia doesn't lost a set from Kenya why do you think that Bulgaria will and even think for possible surprise.

  • I watched almost all matches this World Grand Prix and I must say i was suffering... This is the nature of girls, today you are champion, tomorrow you are shameful loser and you don't remember what your name is. Black or white... Moody spoiled girls who never forget how to paint their nails and do perfect make up. Many accidents in actions, light-heartedness, I have no words. Hate me for this words but it's true. No stabilization, just every year champion who has luck.
The only champion is Brazil. No words for European girls... :what:

  • Adding something from clubs:
    Micelli - Senna Usic

Its not certain that they will play so much better in WCH,they usually play bad in grand prix right but not like this. They used to play with great team spirit but they couldnt beat usa, brazil, china in the past. Now they have a better lots but theyjust make silly things on the court and guidetti just watches. If its not important going to finals then let back ups gain experience. There is no explanation kozuch stiil in the game while she just won 10 points in three set and sent a free ball out over the net when there is no block :aww: seems like she was not in the game so its time to use lippmann but guidetti doesnt use her much.
Finally im completely agree with kondzio that beier shouldnt be starter in this team, she has nothing special to make this team better geerties/weihenmeier has to play until WCH cause germany needs someone who can hit the ball while izquierdo is not there thanks to guidetti

  • Terzic: "when I see some parts such as blocking and reception, I think we were good at those techniques" :aww: :aww: :aww:

did he even watch the match?

  • It's so funny how there are always excuses for the amazing champion of Montreux losing their important matches...for me, Germany is the european Dominican Republican. They've been together for soooo many years, with the same coach, but are disappointing most of the times.
By the way, they are one of the few teams playing together with their A-class players for months now, including the Montreux.

  • Not an excuse but i cant compare germany with the dominican team.Germany is much better team in almost every point.Dominic uses their continental advantage otherwise they cant be in top 10 in the world. The problem of german team usually depends on mentally and pyhsicaly weakness. But still they r far away being a disappointment witth two times in a row silver medalist in ECH :flower: And montreux shouldnt be not important just because germany won it,im sure every team wanted to win it so much but germany was the better one and they won :)

  • They are disappointing to me. Even Poland has won 2 European championship and never reached as a top team in a world context.
I didn't say Germany play as bad as Dominican Republic, I said they are like the European D.R. It's a different thing.

I agree, German team has too many ups and downs, they are definitely too inconsitent and their key players on wings sometimes play under level of any criticism... they have superb matches like this against USA in World Cup 2011 and later their games is just painful too watch :wavy:

  • Just admire how centoni plays still :super: in which period did she play in italian NT before?

I know that she played from 2003 to 2008 in the major competitions, at least (both World championships and both Olympic games), also in European championships and many Grand Prix editions.

  • I would give everything to see faces of Skowrońska, Glinka etc. when our young team won with Belgium while they were watching on TV for sure. :D Because of our "2 European champion" we won't be in WCH in Italy. I bet our young team could win also with Belgium in qualification on January. Some players are just so overrated and they keep getting enormous $$ for nothing.

  • Regarding the match between Thailand and Serbia today, Malagursky was almost completely blocked by Pluemjit. Bjelica was not reliable at all. Rasic was probably the best attacker on the Serbia's side. Mihailovij was quite good at attacking in the last three sets, but her serve reception was pretty much of a disaster.

The Thai team didn't play as well as they should. On many occasions, Nootsara set the ball too high, too close to the net, or inaccurately. This made it very difficult for Onuma to spike. Wilawan has performed not so well in this tournament so far. Tapapaiphan was a very good substitute today; I was impressed by her. In the first set, Thatdao did a good job at attacking, but this young player needs more experience in blocking. She is taller than Pluemjit, but is not a good blocker. I think the Thai team's teamwork is not as good as it used to be. Lady luck was on Thailand's side today. There was one point where Nikolik spiked and the ball hit Onuma, but the ball bounced back to the Serbian side and fell on the floor!
