Italy - Serie A1 2013/2014

  • Modena is killing Trentino. 12-25 in the second set. Trento looks like they don't even want to be playing there.
I've gotta say, I'm really liking this Modena team.

  • Lega Volley had a terrible idea letting play-offs start in the middle of the week: I couldn't go to the palace and even PalaTrento, which is always sold out, is almost empty...

  • Third set for Piacenza. If they receive well, de Cecco is really making fun with the block. So many single blocks :white:
Simon already with 16 points :super:

  • I wonder what happens into Zibi's head when it's play-offs time: he is always :super: :super: :super:

Modena outclassed Trento in its own home. Great match by all the players for Modena. I wonder what this team could do with a better libero and receiving better.

  • 7th and 8th placed teams are really giving games to 1st and 2nd. Both still can win. Great, i am not used to that from Bundesliga.

  • Piacenza wins it 3:1, but it was a tough game for them.
Simon best scorer with 20 points (8 blocks)

Macerata vs. Verona is now in fifth set. From live stats it looks like zaytsev is playing alone with a little assistance from Parodi......

  • Men's Serie A1 is still an high level competition. Maybe the best one. Latina, who is the bottom team of the season, just won the home match of the Challenge Cup against a very strong team like Fenerbahce (Marshall and Miljkovic are still on very high level). It is always funny watching the matches. On the other side women's Serie A1 sucks so bad.

  • I'm so sorry for Verona..they were so close! it would have been fantastic at least to win one match against Macerata! anyway let's see what will happen on Sunday! go Verona :super: :super:
Modena found a good shape and a well balanced team: Bruninho is showing his class, Ngapeth and Kovacevic are rocking!! I didn't Trento would have collapsed like that, last Sunday they played well against Verona!

  • Perugia won against Cuneo, with Cupkovic MVP. Atanasijevic wasn't playing so badly, I think Kovac wanted to give him some rest. The team, after losing the second set, in which Cuneo played good in attack, started to play better and closed the match. I liked Buti and Petric; the one that didn't convince me was Mitic, I think he still has to improve a lot.
Piacenza dominated against Città di Castello, they were stronger. As Macerata against Verona: I was there and it has been such an horrible match by Verona, they lost the occasion on Thursday and Macerata didn't want to risk again!
Modena showed they're in good shape, I wonder what they'll do in the semis; as for now, they kicked off the league Trento (their OHs played really bad), with a convincing performance. Now the semis will be:
    Macerata-Modena
    Piacenza-Perugia

The other temas will be envolved in the play offs for the 5th place:
    Latina-Trento
    Ravenna-Verona
    Molfetta-Città di Castello
    Vibo Vlaentia-Cuneo

  • Oh boy. I was fully expecting Modena to advance over Trento, but it's still disappointing to know they've gone out in QFs.
At the same time, I'm very happy for Modena! The team is a delight to watch and even N'Gapeth seems to be contributing to the good atmosphere they have going on. I wonder how they'll fare against Macerata's serves with their reception line though.

On the other side, while I still think Piacenza is the favorite (for the title, even), I'm hoping for some good battles between them and Perugia.

  • The Italian club Modena wants to reclaim the glorious history and make a serious " Dream Team " for the next season with which to win the title and all trophies.

For this purpose, team's president Katya Pedrito has already started negotiations to attract Bulgarian specialist Radostin Stoychev, who has won 14 trophies for the last 6 years, including three championships of Italy with Trentino. Stoychev who is in Halkbank now is said to coach Modena next season.

Angelo Lorintseti (coach) wanted to leave Modena after reporting that there was a misunderstanding with the management team . Lorintseti announced his intention even after Modena eliminated Diatec Trentino at the 1/4-final stage of the playoffs in Serie A1 Probably next season the specialist will lead Macerata .

Modena's intentions do not stop only with attracting Rado Stoychev as a coach of the team. Matey Kaziyski and Tsvetan Sokolov are the big transfer goals of the Yellow-blues.

The other two transfer goals of Modena are the Cuban center of Piacenza Robertlandi Simon and the Italian national team's libero Salvatore Rossini (Latina).

Among the desired volleyball players to strengthen Modena next season are still the diagonal Luke Vetori and the setter Luciano de Cecco. Their involvement , however, depends on whether Tsvetan Sokolov would sign with Modena and whether the Brazilian Bruno Rezende will agree to stay in Modena next season.

Certainly the controversial French national player Irwin Ngapet will stay in Modena. He joined the team in the spring.

If Modena attracts all these good volleyball players , the team squad for the next season would look impressive. Radostin Stoychevm Matey Kaziyski and Tsvetan Sokolov may be again in the same team as it was in Trento .

Probable squad of Casa Modena for season 2014/2015 :
Setters : Bruno Rezende ( Luciano de Cecco )
Receiver : Irwin Ngapet, Matey Kaziyski
Middle Blockers: Robertlandi Simon, Thomas Beretta
Diagonals : Tsvetan Sokolov (Luka Vetori )
Liberos: Salvatore Rossini ( Loris Mania)

Volleyball is one of the most interactive sports going. It is a game of intuition. Imagination. Improvisation. But most of all, of reciprocity. Of teamwork. There is no way to freelance in volleyball. :serve:

  • Bruno Da Re manager of Trentino Volley said today in the italian newspaper that Modena has not tried Sokolov!
These hypotheses are very imaginative .
The priority of Modena now is that Bruno Rezende accept the renewal of the contract. Ngapeth already has a 2-year contract.
The rest is still all fantasy. :rolll:

  • I told you elsewhere, this can't happen, because of many reasons. First of all they need 3 italian players on court.

IMHO Modeno won't let go its most talented wing spiker, Uros Kovacevic. He will stay in the team with N'Gapeth probably next season too.

  • Means Bartman is leaving? Again? Seriously, what a wanderer...

We have to wait to know for sure. Sokolov won't play for Modena for sure. About Zibi, all I can tell is that with his behavior he is a good target when the team loses. He had a good season anyway. I'd like to see him in Modena next season. Exspecially Bruno exalted his play.

  • Macerata won 3-0 against Modena. it wasn't an easy match: Modena was leading during the match, at least in the first two sets, until the end, when Macerata managed to come back and win. Kovar played good, Iliked also Parodi and Podrascanin. on the other side, Beretta was awful, Kovacevic and Ngapeth made crucial mistakes or were blocked in the hot moments, as Bartman. let's see what will happen in Modena, everything is still open.
the other semifinal was won by Piacenza, with a super Simon and Vettori!! :super: Atanasijevic had 26 points but it wasn't sufficient...

in the play offs for the 5th place Trento, Cuneo, Ravenna and Molfetta won.

Ted: yes Nikola Kovacevic played in Verona and had 17 points (he wasn't a starter though) :http://www.legavolley.it/TabellinoGara.asp?IdGara=26643

  • I really dont understand how a player like Beretta is a starter in Italian NT. He is too slow and his spike is so poor. He is the weakest link in Modena. I hope Berutto will call Matteo Piano instead of him.
