Brazilian Women's Super League 2018/2019

  • This forum is toxic. The discussion about Tifanny is pathetic. Leave her alone. She is a woman. FIVB has already approved her. That's it!

Hooker scored 34points in a 4-set match and in the same day Tifanny scored 28points.

    Is Hooker a trans???!!

She was not man before. That is huge differents.

    Pls do it right :win:

Crovolley the famous WHO from inside volley knows much more about this subject than doctors and specialists who have already allowed Tifanny to play in the women's league. I love it.

  • I know some of the players are complaining about this so I wanted to ask is there a reason why the 7-point system still exists in the women's league but not the men's league? I don't get why it should be different.

It seems like it depends on the clubs. There is no particular reason.

  • well, i don't think it's that simple. i don't think kasia is wrong. what she said is similar to what tandara said before (and martina navratilova, speaking about another sport). a transgender woman is not simply like a "regular", cisgender woman.

to start with the obvious, tifanny is taller than the average player. also, she is in my view also stronger and has more stamina than the average female player. so there is a feeling that she has some advantages over XX women. i know that she has a new body and undergoes hormone therapy to keep her testosterone levels within a female range, but none of this negates her physicality.

it's a tough situation because where else she can play? she can't obviously go back to playing in a men's league, where she could not be competitive anymore. but i can understand what other women athletes must be feeling like.

(it's somewhat similar to what has been happening in athletics, but with intersex athletes, not TG, in the women's 800 m, for example. cisgender women cannot compete in that event with semenya, etc.)

  • PS: the participation of transgender athletes is not just a matter of what doctors decide... there's much that science and medicine still hasn't determined. but as what happened with IAAF and the case of semenya/dutee chand showed, it's also a matter of what lawyers have decided.

  • I think it’s also worth remembering that volleyball is a team game. Tiffany didn’t win that match, Fabiola organised her offence very well and played to her strengths with precision setting- Roberta on the other side was a mess. Diouf also contributed a lot, so did the Libero in covering and defending, and the middle players did their job well. Rezende couldn’t come up with a game plan to respond. We may give a lot of excuses and suggestions, but for that match and that game, that was the issue really. Sesi hasn’t been playing well, and lost a lot of matches prior to this, during which time Tiffany hasn’t been an issue. It’s important to think of context, rather than focusing on one individual in a team game, especially one who hasn’t exactly taken the volleyball world by storm because of her ‘apparent physical prowess’- there is a long list of better volleyball girls in Brazil.

  • laughed out loud

QPL won't you miss this Crovolley teasing party? It won't be fun without you :hit:

  • well, i just finished watching the 3rd match of bauru x rio. i don't recall ever tifanny playing so well, she was on fire (not that i saw all the matches). i mean, throughout the season, she wasn't even a starter, she was often the backup OH/OP.

OTOH i thought roberta played pretty badly (although she wasn't the only one). fabiola really schooled her. diouf also played pretty well.

Though i like roberta for sets she made to tandara in the back row pipe, i wish fabiola and macris will be in tokyo 2020!

    Macris fabiola

    Tandara bruna

Gabi natalia garay tainara (wish list, i like her reception)

Michelle i like her defence as well

Thaisa - she is back, carol - to be a 7point player soon, mayany - blocking machine, jumps very high (i wonder stefano lavarinni didnot put her as starting)

  • I'm watching Hooker again, Like in old days, high-strong-sharp. Can't wait to watch her next game...

I hope She will play in top team next season if She is going to stay in Brazil...

When will they play next game ??

  • What do you guys think about the Superliga as a whole this season? Is it getting better in terms of the clubs performances? Or it is getting worse than last year?

Its getting stronger not because of foreigners but because of local players and bench players from the first 4 ranked teams.

I hope next season, foreign market transfer is useful and there will be a new local player to be invited in NT.
