Love SBS, but that opening just gives me all the feels. So KBS all the way for me!

I've been screwing up my sleep cycle these days just to watch some volleyball live. Can only wish for a competitive game. :box:

  • Oh! Nice strategy Kim Jong-min + Lee Hyo-hee. In one move, you stabilize the reception, open up the wings nicely, and give yourself an option to really exploit the middle. But if everyone plays center, who's gonna play right for the National Team hahaha. If Moon and Jeon Sae-yan struggle though, that strategy goes to the toilet.

Moon Jeong-won looks like a shadow of herself. Really sluggish both on offense and defense. Is costing her team. But the coach can't really take her out cause no one else can receive . Yim Myung-ok also looks slow out there and doesn't seem able to follow the pace.

Hi-pass badly needs a new setter. Both of them are not starter material to be polite.

  • GS Caltex's floor defense is a beautiful thing to watch. That team really has everything, including underappreciated MB with championship pedigree. If it weren't for Paycut Life shattering the league's ecosystem this year, this would be a pretty strong champion team. Will Lutz go back home next year to play in the new US league? Will Lee So-young and Kang So-hwi remain? In any case, they have a cupboard of promising young talent for the future.

Hi-pass is an interesting case study. The way they're built, with an aging team (of experienced champions) and not that many prospects to show for, they should be in an all-in win-now mode before their main players retire or age out of their prime. Unfortunately, they just don't have enough... Now, do you tank (purposely or not) and waste the last years of your veterans?

Shout out to Lee (Air) So-young, a true beauty on and off the court. Her jump might be the prettiest in the league next to Lazareva. The way her legs arch is art. A real complete volleyball player. Compensates her lack of height with high IQ; knows how to go around the block, something So-hwi has to work more on to be effective in international competitions. If only she was a few inches taller, she'd be crushing it in Turkey or Italy. Then again, if I had a few more inches, I'd be Ron Jeremy!

  • I don't understand. If you're gonna use Rousseaux as OH, where she belongs, why not start Jeong Ji-yun as OP right away to maximize your attack power. Hwang Youn-joo is a legend, but this ain't 2016... Unless you don't trust Lee Da-hyun as a starting MB.

Edit: Well, as I'm writing, JJY is in...

I just started watching the Hyundai vs KGC Vod......

    Upcoming Schedule:

  • Is Merete playing well?

Yes, I think she is doing quite well.

After two rounds, she is currently first in points scorer ranking with 323 points (287 spike kills, 26 block kills, and 10 serve aces). Second in spike ranking with success rate 46.52% (FYI, spike efficiency is 33.71%). Sixth in block ranking with 0.63 block kills per set and also sixth for serve ranking with 0.24 aces per set.

  • I agree with what you said about both Hyundai and KGC and I also feel bad about Kim Dain and her position within the team now, but I think we can hardly blame her for lacking play time when she got almost no play time in her first 3 seasons.

    Her first V-League Season 17/18:

    3 games, 7 sets

    18/19:

    literally 0 games

    19/20:

    3 games, 5 sets

    20/21:

    so far - 9 games, 27 sets

She did play in the KOVO Cup every year but that only accounts for about 11 more games, soooo at the end of the day - where is her experience going to come from? Well from nowhere, since she has little playing experience - which totally isnt her fault since Hyundai Coach almost never subbed LDY out.

Maybe moving forward she will be able to become the main setter but being backup setter to LDY for 3 seasons meant pretty much 0 playing time for her.

I can't speak to the specifics of Kim Da-in, but I've come to the conclusion that a lot of players must understand their position of never playing ------ unless the player ahead of them gets injured. They have to be ready for that moment. Nobody wants anybody to get injured but teams have to be equipped to deal with it if it happens. And one could say that the non-playing person would be better equipped if they got occasional playing time. I'm sure the coaches have considered that, and in some cases just thought "nah"

  • like sitenoise mentioned: aside from the player "capacity", it is depended on the coach decision as well...

It seems Pink Spider coach made example of such decision.. Correct me if I'm wrong, in R1 v Hi-Pass, Pink Spider lost the first 2 sets.. Then in 3rd set LDY was subbed out to Kim Da Sol.. KDS isn't subbed again, and Pink Spider won the last 3 sets with her as setter.... She seems has strong mentality that can prevail under pressure, and has skill that can supply settings for LJY, KYK, and Lucia...

I'd say KDS has better prospect then KDI to become next gen setter for SK in general... Of course anything can happen in the future..:)

True, Kim Dasol did a good job on the court but she isnt a rookie player, she is only one year younger than LDY and has been a Heungkuk Trainee back in 2014/15 before playing her first games in the 2015 KOVO Cup.

Since then she played a couple of games every season - most notably 26 games (56 sets) in 18/19 and 18 games (31 sets) in 19/20.

But I agree, she looks clutch and definitely not as shaky as KDI.
