2022 Men's Volleyball Nations League

  • wow. Germany refused to play against China today even if the Chinese players tested negative from Covid. This is outright racism and they should be disqualified completely. They also refused to play the exhibition match with Philippines men's team despite agreeing on it before and it was already scheduled and tickets were already sold.

    How disappointing.

  • this is extremely unprofessional of Germany not showing up like that. The venue was ready, the people went there, everything was set up.

Shame on them. They also refused to play the exhibition match that already scheduled against the PH team that they AGREED with from the start. They refused by just saying they were tired.. only hours before the match. With people already on their way to the venue. This is bullshit on the part of Germany

  • I wish Argentina NT played the match against China NT though it's just a wish.

My favourite roster of Chinese (in 2022)
    male NT:
    S - Yu Yao-chen, Chen Lei-yang
OP - Jiang Chuan, Dai Qing-yao
    OH - Zhang Jing-yin, Yu Yuan-tai, Liu Li-bin, Fu Hou-wen
    MB - Zhang Zhe-jia, Peng Shi-kun, Li Yong-zhen, Jiang Zhen-yang
    L - Yang Yi-ming, Yang Tian-yuan

    female NT:
    S - Yao Di, Diao Lin-yu
    OP - Gong Xiang-yu, Sun Xiao-xuan
    OH - Li Ying-ying, Wang Yi-fan, Wu Meng-jie, Zhuang Yu-shan
MB - Yuan Xin-yue, Wang Yuan-yuan, Zheng Yi-xin, Liu Yu
    L - Ni Fei-fan, Xu Jia-nan

Racism? That they didn't feel safe playing against team which was sick two days before? lol

Germany has really strict rules regarding Covid in their country. Probably, the players didn't want to be potentially quarantined (if there would be some positive cases in China team)

no. it was already cancelled. that's why their reason was they were tired

the test came back negative. they weren't sick. and they didn't even bother informing the hosts in advanced. they just didn't show up. people were already in the venue waiting. if this were an Asian team, they would be shamed.

Japan also tested positive days earlier and then they got cleared to play against Argentina. do you hear any problems coming from Argentina?

  • It says that even though 6 days ago 21 members of Chinese team were positive, shortly before match all were cleared by the authorities, so it seems Germany didn't believe these results, lol. I wonder if they overreacted or the organizational level is suspicious, it sounds super weird.

Imo, if Germany isn't comfortable playing with people who aren't fully clear (due to incubation period of COVID), it's completely within their rights to refuse since they'll be counted as losing the match (forfeit) automatically. It's completely within anyone's decision to play or not.

But if they just stood up the whole match when everything was already arranged, fans already in their seats, without informing prior to the match of their decision not to play (against China or the Philippines), then that's not very nice and lacks sportsmanship.

Proper courtesy is to inform ahead of time that you don't want to play.

I'm not familiar with the international body's rules, but would they face any backlash for this, if what you say is correct?

so Germany didn't know if there would be a match against China after the day they played against Italy. They still didn't know what was going on tomorrow when they back to hotel. No one informed them anything. They got notification that they need to play hours before the match.

I think it's not fair. Test results needed to be done 24 hours before the match. FIVB needs to make a dicision about if the match would be played one day (24 hours) before, not couple hours before the match. The protocol needed to be changed.

It is not the reason to refuse to play.

It is entirely the German team's fault.

They should be prepared for game moment by moment, cause they are a professional team.

Lol what!? This shows that FIVB is a joke. Germans behaved really good. Taking care of your buddies is the most important. China was sick yesterday it today is fine…

China was already warming up, the fans were already there and they didn't have the courtesy to even cancel before the match? they should be disqualified completely at this point.
