Japan - V.League V1 (Division 1, Women) 2022-2023

  • The real problem for Okayama is: Toyota is a good team now. Nobody really puts up great numbers. They just scrap their way along. They aren't going to win the Championship or anything, but it's hard to beat teams that refuse to give up

Yamagami was back for a brief moment so she must be okay

Any team with that hard hitting no.9 would be a dangerous opponent...

  • Someone pointed out that in a lot of her still pics on the internets she looks angry. It's true. I decided to run with it because in reality she's probably the goofiest, most I'm a party burrito player in the league

Chinese exchange student, had a good run with her Japanese HS team, enrolled in a non-volleyball college in Japan and one day decided to call the Okayama Coach and ask for a tryout. Her dream was to play with Haruka Miyashita. Dropped out of college. The name on her shirt, "Maika" is from Mai Yamaguchi, her idol, and Haruka

Thank you. Nice to know about the backgrounds of players, makes watching volleyball more interesting

  • Valdes had a good game. Nabeya was outrageously good but it seemed more like Valdes and Acosta killed Hitachi. They just hit more and landed balls at crunchy times

It was remarkable the angle , the downward angle, Nabeya was hitting. Yuki Hyodo also. They had that RBI thing going on. I'm impressed with the way Hyodo is playing this year

btw - Yuka Kitsui hit 75%

Who is Hyodo? Would you say Nabeya is doing better at PFU than she ever did at Denso?

  • Who is Hyodo? Would you say Nabeya is doing better at PFU than she ever did at Denso?

Yuki Hyodo OH on Denso. She's gone from fun backup to reliable starter

Nabeya had a good game last night. I think overall with PFU she's in a bit of a downturn. Reception not quite as reliable and her hitting is just streaky . She's been fighting Shima for the starting spot and mostly losing

  • Who is Hyodo? Would you say Nabeya is doing better at PFU than she ever did at Denso?

She's lost a lot of her vigour since going to PFU. Denso Nabeya was a hyperactive ott weirdo like Hayashi but she's simmered down a lot since and if she was a "weak" spiker then, she's got an even wimpy spike now. She has her ON moments.

  • Araki can never win with Ohtake getting court time. Fukuzawa Araki and VH needs to stay that way plus the uni girl they're grooming to be a weapon.

    who’s VH?

  • Exciting Tie Breaker at Saitama with Himeji. If Akari Bono can win this it might signal the beginning of the end of the Miki Sakurai Era of Himeji

Exciting Tie Breaker at SAGA with Toray

JT, Toray, and mostly SAGA play a level of volleyball different from every other team
