    Most of the casual fans online have probably never watched Startseva outside of NT matches.

    watch any match of importance that Brazil plays. She gets benched constantly. Vs Serbia. Vs Italy. Vs Japan. Etc. I haven’t watched as much FB but she totally has been yanked against ecza and vakif as well

    I really think that's a very strong statement!

    We are talking about one of the strongest setters in the current volleyball scene...

    I also hate how often she tries to be flashy and one hand set perfect passes and it compromises her location. She’s not awful or anything. She’s decent for sure but she is not great.

    She's definitely not a big one, I agree...

    But how many setters are there currently better than her?

    I think we can definitely count them on the fingers of one hand...

    Given the scarcity of good setters, this is what the market currently goes through...

    Changing the setter when you're losing the match is very common, whether the issue is actually with the setter or not. We're very lucky to have a setter like Roberta on the bench, so Zé won't hesitate to put her in if our game isn't working because he knows she's a great setter too.


    Macris and Roberta are both equally capable, they just have different gamestyles and Zé favors Macris' more for the NT, which is why she normally starts. Putting Roberta in for Macris is more of a tactical sub than a technical one more often then not, because they bring different things to the table.


    It's worth noting too that out of those games you mentioned, changing Roberta for Macris only worked against Japan. The other two were finals and this squad happens not to know how to play those, but that's a whole nother issue.


    The Japan game was a very good illustration of my point about different gamestyles, by the way. Roberta said in her mid match interview that we were trying to outpace Japan when what we really needed was to slow the game down, meaning that Roberta was a better fit than Macris for that match in particular, and her coming in completely changed the game.

    Again I exaggerate it a bit. Macris is not even close to a bad player. However, she just isn’t as good as a lot of People on here think in my opinion. I especially dont like her as a choice for one of the precious foreign slots in Turkey. I think she’d be better off in Italy where she wouldn’t take up so a valuable shot because I just don’t think she’s good enough to warrant being a foreign setter in the Turkish league

    Thai fans said Pornpun shared over her livestream that she received an offer from Novara (mid 22/23 season) but she rejected them because the pay was low and joined Rapid instead

    It's true though, she's not suited for European volleyball. When she first joined Rapid, her sets were too low. It improved after a few games, but her style doesn't suit European volleyball and I certainly don't see the same player from VNL.


    She's still playing decently good, but her game gets shaken up a lot by poorer than usual receives so she gets subbed out quite often. Also worry for her stamina as she's often seen panting and holding her sides within the first set.


    There are fans wondering if she'll apply for Korea's new Asia Quarter draft next season


    Rapid situation

    Marchioni's own words : “They proposed Pornpun to us but we didn't accept because the Thais play a different type of ball than the one played in Italy. I read that she would have complained because Novara paid her too little and then where did it go? In Romania in a team that is demobilising”.


    Even the GM himself is confused by whole "Pornpun rejected Novara due to low salary" scenario.

    He said the news/media has been messing around Novara, producing all kinds of false info. So he correct some, not just Pornpun's but also others.


    I don't think Romanian league paid Pornpun better than what Novara could have offer really. The club was negotiating with the agent, not the player herself, so maybe there are some misunderstanding and both parties saw thing differently.
