Fenerbahçe Acıbadem is the women's volleyball section of Fenerbahçe S.K., a major sports club in Istanbul, Turkey. The club is sponsored by Acıbadem Healthcare Group.
Fenerbahçe Acıbadem play their matches in 1160-seat arena, called the Burhan Felek 50. Yıl Spor Salonu. A new hall, Fenerbahçe Ülker City with capacity 12.500 will be built until December 2011
History
Fenerbahçe SK Women's Volleyball Branch was founded in 1954 and won 9 Turkish Championships alongside many titles. In 1977, it was closed due to financial issues. In 1989, it was refounded and promoted from Istanbul First League to the Turkish Second League in 1993 and to the Turkish First League in 1994. They were relegated to the Turkish Second League in 1995-96 season.
Fenerbahçe finally returned to the First League in 2002-2003 season.Fenerbahçe finished 2nd in 2006-2007 and 2007-2008 seasons. They gained their 9th Turkish title in the history in 2008-09 season with beating 3-2 their archrival Eczacıbaşı SK in the final and it was their first ever title since league system was applied.
Fenerbahçe Acıbadem shine in 2009-10 season without a loss in both of Turkish and European competitions and still continue their unbeaten run.They finished 1st the first round of 2009-10 season without a loss in 22 matches and reached the final of Women's CEV Champions League without a loss, after beating hosts RC Cannes 3-2 in final-four that is held in Cannes.They will be faced Volley Bergamo in the final to get the cup first ever.
The team was renamed as Fenerbahçe Acıbadem due to sponsorship agreement with Acıbadem Healthcare Group in 2007
