I just don't know if I can trust Seki. Her mini breakdowns during JT vs Toray's most crucial matches looked bad. But okayyyyy let's see how far they can go with her
Also, I feel like Hayashi won't be in the actual match against China but I'd rather see her than Nabeya

So who are the starting 6 for japan on this practice match?

According to their manager, Asami Suyama (陶山麻未) Momii was the starting setter in the practice match today
as she should. her mental toughness in the crucial moments is unmatched.

Based on the reaction I'm seeing on twitterverse which they're getting from Clubhouse, I don't think Araki, Koga and Nagaoka participated today. So most likely Yamada, Akutagawa, Ishii and Hayashi on the grind along with the Toray girls. No mention of Zhu Ting either.
This should be some good whack for Yamada as she's not really as alert as Okumura. Akutagawa on the other hand, is slow to slide

From the picture, I'm sure Ishikawa, Koga and Inoue are receiving.

Thank you. Its just the picture is too far and cant see it clearly 😊

And Tashiro as a setter. Yamada at the net as MB and someone behind her, I guess.
-
i can't recognise anyone from that ridiculously HQ photo japanvolleyball posted and if they did a total of 6 sets everyone could have gotten a chance to play. zhutingfan posted that the match will have unlimited subs.

I think it's Nagaoka, judging from the calf compression thingy.
-
Ishikawa by the way will not be joining the men's team in their match against China so if anything this Tokyo Challenge is a match for Hinotori. Their director didn't really highlight it, they said their main focus is VNL (China's Men's NT will not be participating) Nishida getting all the exposure while Yanagida dolls up for Asics is what's happening with the men's team right now.
It's important the women's team don't get completely demolished by China here because their support is looking pretty glum especially with stars like Miyashita and Sato out of the picture.
-
Naga / Koga did not play. Someone posted in the China thread said it's rumored to be 5-0 fuck

That photo mustn't be from today.

It is from today. They didn't have a match yesterday (Tokoku's birthday)
Nagaoka is the one with her legs apart (almost squatting?) wearing gold shoes. She didn't play. But that is Koga next to Mayu. Kurogo standing in the bench area. In front of them are Ishii and Yamada. Inoue on the right and Seki
-
LAWD they couldn't even get 1 set in? is this the only practice match they have or will they still have a chance tomorrow?

it looks more like tashiro than seki. seki's hair is longer

the men's team are going to have court time tomorrow so probably not

I'm not against it but getting an inexperienced setter of all positions might prove to be their undoing especially one that's an Olympic hopeful. Ding Xia is gonna pull all sorts of crazy shit on them and all Japan has to offer is Tashiro being the most predictable out of the 3 veteran setters.
The ace situation is chaotic as well. Simplify and focus on Koga's strength.
They don't have to beat China because I mean... but also by now they should be aware of which areas are lacking and hopefully in the match they don't go limp from just Zhu Ting's raw power.
