I don't understand why the Korean media is raging at the main Japanese referee for the video challenge call when the Challenge Referee is another person instead -> NEDERHOED Jacobus (NED), and the person they should be blaming.
(but, pretty sure its since Koreans just want to find any reason to hate on a Japanese, there was no need for them to point out the referee's nationality but they did)It was a bad call, was pretty obvious but the Kenyan's hand was hidden behind the ball which could be a reason why - in which case they should've switched to another camera angle. Either way, the ball's trajectory clearly changed and it was clear to see it was touched.
I do think that the video challenge issue got too unnecessarily heated though.
Korean team got way too riled up cause KYK & the Korean team argued with the referee for quite awhile (why??) before getting Lavarini/assistant coach to request for the video challenge. As a viewer I wonder what's their reason for arguing with the referee, the refs response will always be the same, which is to go request for a video challenge if so - even in vleague. There was also some issue with requesting for the challenge due to the time limit I think - 8 seconds after the play, and their assistant coach was shouting at the other referee about it while the Korean translator was trying to calm him down by patting his back😂
Ultimately they successfully requested for the challenge after all the trouble, but it ended up being a wrong decision which just hit the nail on its head making it end on a sour note.
It's not just Korean media. I've seen other non-Korean blogs talk about how weird those calls were. I also know of many instances in the past where Japanese referees in past volleyball tourneys that have made horrible calls. Stop playing the weeb card. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to notice a recurring trend.

LOL weeb card, really?
a bad referee is a bad referee, there's no need to bring up their nationality and attack them for it specifically
The Japanese refs aren't the only poor ones

what does it take for Korea to get into QF? a win against Japan?

Damn it Volleyballworld!
definitely the kpop song and not referencing the last olympics.

Either DOM lose against JPN, or win against Japan ensures QF.
If DOM beats JPN in 4 sets or less and KOR loses 2-3 to JPN, then DOM and KOR advance (I think).
(This is assuming of course that DOM/JPN/KOR all beat Kenya 3-0 or 3-1 and all lose their remaining games 0-3 or 1-3 to Serbia/Brazil ).

Here's the replay of yesterday's epic game for those who missed or want to rewatch:
By yakiiikim, who also has tons of interesting links.
It's the KBS2 stream. Note that the end of the first set and the start of the second are cut from the replay. All the major channels switched to broadcast swimming for a couple of minutes...

My point is that it's been a recurring trend for Korean players specifically. It's situational for KYK.

Naver also has the restreams guys: KBS2, MBC, SBS. (VPN to Korea.)
The KBS stream suffers from the same problem econmtl mentioned, and the MBC and SBS ones only start at the start of the second set (after the swimming broadcast.) All of the commentators were super emotional at the end of the match.
The full match can be rewatched here (VPN to Japan). They provide options of ambience sound (no commentary), English commentary and even Robocommentary. You can watch other matches/sports here as well, even the live ones.

If Korea wins against Japan, and the chance is pretty high imo, they will advance to the next round. A big accomplishment for Queen Yeon Koung and team and Lavarini, especially remembering the struggles they had this year

Article from Volleyballworld.
QuoteKim on Paris 2024: I'll think about it
But there is one question from her fans hanging in the air. In three years’ time, will she be at the Olympic Games in Paris?
“It is something I have to consider and think about,” Kim said.
“It’s hard to say at this moment whether I will participate or not, but it is something to think about in the near future.”
Hope? At least it's not a "No" right?

I am so nervous about today's match against Japan! Does anyone know if Koga is playing? She's still out due to injury?

I don't think Koga will play today. Unless things goes wrong for Japan they might sub her in
Anyway if Korea win today's game no matter what the score is, will they confirm to advance to QF?

If Korea win, they'll advance to QF for sure.
If they lose, we'll have to hope for a favorable result in the match between Japan and the Dominican Republic. (This is assuming that Korea will not take any point in the match with Serbia, which is highly likely IMO.)
It's gonna be a tough match tonight I think because both teams want to win in order to secure their chance to the QF. Praying that Korea will get good results and the match ends without any injuries.
