Oh, are you nervous ?
I don't think the VBL did this. Booth Team of the Final are in the Champions League
Yes, because of Corona risks as mentioned. Schwerin is clearly the underdog in the semis.
All favorites prevailed, Dresden in Wiesbaden in three and Potsdam in Aachen in four sets. That means the following semi final series:
Stuttgart vs. Schwerin
Dresden vs. Potsdam
The first sees Stuttgart as clear-cut favorite, while the second is hard to predict, personally I see the chances 60:40 in favour of Potsdam.
Aachen - Potsdam 1:3 (25:17 24:26 20:25 25:27)

MVP: Lena Vedder / Aleksandra Jegdic
Wiesbaden - Dresden 0:3 (18, 23, 22)

MVP: Liza Kastrup / Linda Bock
Leonie Schwertmann ends her career, yesterday was her last match.
Semifinals will be played on 16th and 19th, 3rd match if necessary on 22nd. Dresden-Potsdam series will be on Sport1.
Last season such a step was still ruled out, at least I have in mind that the department head said so in the live streams. But I'm honestly very pleased with this step. Borken is a volleyball crazy town with a long tradition. You just have to look at the successes in the youth field. They also have a lot of fans there, which is also an enrichment for the league in terms of atmosphere.
Alexandersen will be coaching Stuttgart also next season. StZ reports the final decision was made by the family council of the Alexandersens. His family including his three kids lives in Norway still. Renkema is quoted saying Alexandersen is an "old-school coach and that should be taken as a compliment. He stands above the group and knows how to lead them." She praises his honesty and calmness. Lee: "He expects a lot from us but believes in us."

Renkema also says that 90% of the roster for next season is already done. So far we just know that Van De Vyver goes to Turkey
And Lara Berger to Dresden.
I am also pretty sure that Koskelo and Segura have a contract for next season. I guess Kohn will be staying as second setter and I don't expect Nowicka to stay as first setter
Don't know about the rest but it would be nice if some of them are staying. By now I would not be suprised anymore if Rivers continues to play in Stuttgart.
Timmerman's contract runs until 2023, so unless someone is willing to pay a significant transfer fee she'll stay.

Concerning Lee, I guess Stuttgart's chances to keep her are extremely small. In my opinion she's the league MVP this year and will surely get well-paying offers from teams in other countries.
I didn't know she signed a two year contract, but I am very happy
Lee should get offers from Italy or Turkey, unless they are idiots

I wonder if they could convince Helene Rousseaux to come play.
Anna Church from Neuwied to Münster.

Followed her career. And reading posts on other sites, it would appear the consensus is she’s average at best, and her passing is questionable. Will be interesting to see where she goes next. Good player, imo.
Sina Fuchs will play in Neuwied next season. Given her performance in Straubing this season, I think this transfer is far less spectacular than it sounds...
In contrast to Stuttgart, there will be a quite big change in Dresden. According to an article by MDR, Alexander Waibl assumes that 50 percent of the squad from this season will no longer be there next season. That's why he doesn't see the games as important in terms of qualifying for the Champions League, but only because of qualifying for the final of the German championship.

I don't think this number should be taken too serious....but nevertheless I think a few players will leave indeed. Only the young German players have contracts for next season ( Straube, Strubbe, Stöckmann) and Linda Bock. I assume that Wesser and Linke will get contracts for next season. I could imagine Storck, Gray, van Buskirk, Pusic and Kicka will leave. Not sure about Janiska. There are rumours about her going to Poland...but she once said in an interview that she really enjoys working with Waibl and the many young german players...so who knows...
Waibl's quote sounds like Storck will be gone and they have problems finding a replacement on her level. But I've learned in the past weeks that Waibl's statements should be taken with a grain of salt.
