Has she served the 5 years minimum to get a JPN passport? Because that might be great lol.
Japan Women's NT 2023

It's not yet too late to call in Melissa Valdes by next year
Valdes may be an option. I just remembered no PFU players made NT roster... so probably not on Manabe's watch. He wouldn't be able to forgive himself if Valdes outshines Koga.

Is it 5 years? I don't know when exactly she applied if she only applied during the time she got into PFU then not yet but if she already applied way before that then she may already have it.

The horror indeed. But what's the point of making Koga his star if she intends on retiring after Paris. Not very KYK of her.

I heard Santiago (the PH MB playing from Ageo to JT) was changing federation and apparently she needs 5 years in JPN to just get JPN Citizenship.

saw this one on twitter. but the new rule will make her not elligible
-
yeah I heard about that too. I do not know, maybe its not retroactive? Santiago's change of Federation was done before the rule was changed (~early 2022-ish, the rule was published just this year).

Does she not play for the Philippine NT anymore? That's kinda awkward. Her husband is now coaching in her country.

but the new rule was in effect by september so I think it's almost impossible for her. unlucky too since she's in a federation that isn't as open to naturalized players.

Also you guys are overreacting a little about Wada. One foot fault won't ruin her lol. She won't be the next Yoshino Sato.
Wada's foot fault is one of those whoopsies that fall under Having a Bad Day
...for now
But her defense may not even be close to decent in time for LA 2028 with her being the offensive type. I would know seeing as all my faves have shit defense.
-
She stopped playing after 2021 Sea Games and had been quite open in wanting to exclusively work in JPN professionally and maybe get in JPN National team.

But will she be a monster freakwhacker by LA28

I don't know her like that

Just say you don't care

Wth lol

Reminder that Uchiseto was also an allrounder but in the end, Manabe made her a fake libero then she retired the end. Good to know that someone has good offense and good defense but if it doesn't have any impact on the team then do they really need all these allrounders that can't even close the gap.
-
just found out that derya is going to kurobe not hitachi rivale why would they do that to her

because this is not eurovolley it's nippon volleyball. it's the nippon way to play good defense. can't have it all though. even jack of all trades are mediocre. some people are weak swingers with great defensive skills and freakwhackers that treat the floor as lava. the point is to find balance within the team.

Hitachi also got Victorina's lame budget meal coach from last season they may self-destruct

Koga is about the same height as ChatchuOn and Gabi but with less intensity. Her swings aren't as sharp and her vertical doesn't pack as much force as the other 2. But I distinctly remember when Koga first came to the scene or the very first time I saw her, there was a lot more thunder to her spikes. Crazy how different it is from now. She's not built to be a terminator.
