Perugia loses because, as I said many times, Zaystev as OH is a totally NORMAL player, from area 4 his spike is nothing special. While Russell is not a top player yet. Still very incosistent and discontinuous

Oh please. Ngapeth and Juantorena also have bad days/weeks..it's just Zaytsev and Russell pick one of the worse days to have a mediocre kinda match in a quarterfinal. I mean atleast Modema and Lube have Cook or Cebulj.
And the problem of the match is simply because De Cecco was making too many bad choices while his left sides are not hitting their averages enough in the offense.and that brings us the bench of Perugia.
The titulars OHs are good enough to start in other clubs but you can't have them perfect all the time. It's incredibly important to be on top of your shape and a club as ambitious as perugia,it's vital to have someone who can pick up the pieces. De Cecco can't even trust Berger or Dore to hit out of system. What can you do if their best offensive OHs are their starters? Both their back up arent as good defensively yet to make a case for that in order to usurp their positions.attleast Fromm was a good piece last season. Kaliberda/Russell/Fromm was good enough to win championships last season. Imagine if they got Podrascanin? After those two left... It's back to square zero for Perugia. If they kept Kaliberda or Fromm atleast there's still familiarity. It seems to me Perugia drastically change how the team work and it's costing them championship wins.
Maybe it's the lack of chemistry or De Cecco playing bad but I would say Perugia didn't do enough in building a team that forges competition within a club. I mean Zaytsev and Russell ae basically shoe ins as starters as long as they are healthy.

I told it in october Perugia would be once again a beautiful loser team. I was right when I stopped watching our games.
Reasons:
-De Cecco ia a marvelous player, but not a winner; a silver medal specialist a would say.
-Russell can't have a bad day, since he's the only one to go when it matters.
-We hired the best italian opposite to play another position, which he has always been average at best.
-Atanasijevic will never be a factor when score comes to 20+ in very important matches.
-We gave up a bad libero, to hire a worse one; but at least there's Tosi.Podrascanin is the only real improvement of the team than last season.
I really miss Kaliberda. He was my favourite player last season.

He missed a few matches this season and Perguia won without him, and he played bad a few games this season and Perugia still won.
And we all know, Russell is probably the last player you want to go when it matters.

Perguia made to the finals last season mostly thanks to Atanasijevic, if Perugia did not had him, I dont think they would even made to the semis.

You talk about finals. I talk about titles. That's the difference. I had to watch this guy in my team since 2013. I had expectations, but he has been all along a disappointment when it really mattered. He can't lead the team anywhere. He's not a leader.
He came to Belchatow when the club won 7 polish titles in a row. Not only they lost the first final against Resovia, but the following season the got eliminated in the QFs.

But you should watch some match from last season, when the team was all about Russell in the key moments (play-off semifinals and so on), because the opposite couldn't kill a single ball. And be honest with who reads your posts or at least with yourself, instead of writing nosenses. It's not such a big deal.
Once again my club just waisted money. I telling this since the beginning and the last elimination proved it. We are even weaker than last season.

But just like I called somebody out the other day when they said Lise VanHecke was playing terrible. there's a lot of people that don't watch the games and they depend on the posts to find out what's going on! So when you come here and try to say Atanasejevic is terrible and Russell the best, it is my job to call you out and show that you are talking shit.

Of course Osmany and especially Ngapeth have bad days, I've never wrote that they are perfect players!
Still, I do believe that overall they are better players than OH-Zaytsev. Of course in a single match it's absolutely possible that Ivan outplays them, because he has the potential to, but on the long run I think the first two are quite better.Having saying that, I specify that I don't agree with shame about Ivan being just an 'average' OH: for me he is still a (very?) good player, just not a top international one, as imho he is as opposite. And I specify that for me his problem as OH it's always been the attack, not the reception (he does receive quite better than several other players considered 'top OHs', for example Kaizisky).
About Cook, honestly I don't think he is better than Berger... But may be Massari is better than Della Lunga (hard to say for me, I haven't watch them playing very much).
About Lube bench OHs, I didn't mention them not because I forgot to do that, but because the 'bench OHs problem' that we were speaking about doesn't affect them at all, since the 4 OHs all together are clearly the best 'OH-squad' of the whole Superlega, especially now that Kovar is coming back.
I mentioned Juantorena not to imply that he doesn't have a proper bench, but to point out that imho Perugia is missing a top international OH like him (or Ngapeth).BTW, my point in the previous post was: Perugia and Modena both doesn't have a proper bench when you come to OHs and especially opposites, so it's crucial that the titular OHs/opp play at their best.
And Ngapeth imho is better than OH-Zaytsev best, may be excluding the serve (that isn't affected by the position you're playing).Of course, not having a top international OH doesn't mean you can't win, as having him doesn't mean you will

I thought Trento would have fared better with Nelli than Stokr.
Trento badly needs a terminating opposite or maybe a terminating OH. Lanza is kinda up and down while Stokr is getting older.
It's such a shame really. De Cecco was playing terribly but they managed to play even worse than that. Giannelli had to go to give ridiculous sets to the middles because his hitters can't kill with single blocks.

Yes, the worst Trento of the season maybe, but Perugia was far from its best as well. The worst Giannelli I ever saw. On the other side De Cecco not so brilliant. It was the first match I watched after long time, at least they won. Bad Russell, so so Zaytsev and Berger. Zaytsev spiking from 2 is something, Zaytsev spiking from 4 is domething different.
The only one who actually pleased me is Tosi. At least Bari isn't playing anymore.

Technically I do agree that Perugia can do more, but the attitude imho was the right one.
For me the worst Giannelli is still the one vs Serbia in the WL semifinal :P, but I agree that this one wasn't his finest match (even if imho also the spikers are to blame...).
BTW, in the interview he said that he wasn't pleased by the lack of aggressiveness of Trento, but that their game was ok

Well, they definitely seem illogical when they don't work, but when they do...BTW, I'm always very curious to understand how much is Giannelli pushing and how much is Lorenzetti asking him to do so.
Today Lorenzetti snapped at Solé during a time out, even if I love Seba and the situation wasn't great I found the moment almost hilarious xD

Thought Perugia won because of their service pressure and blocking. It was just a matter of time. Trento had to put into work to overcome that.

To me the match has been quite poor, too many mistakes from both sides and not so beautiful game. Congrats to Perugia, they're showing a good game with all the great players they have. Anyway, I still don't understand why Zaytsev wants to play as OH: he could be one of the best OPPs in the world as shown in Rio, while as OH he is just average!

Today big match Modena - Perugia at 6 pm on Rai Sport 1. I'll be in Palapanini
