2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's Nations League

  • USA really needs to practise passing free skyballs :D

    :rolll: It's comic relief!

  • I feel like the more I watch China they slower they seem to get. Their movement around the court is very laboured. Even on the off ball, the setters just give these huge imprecise digs to get the ball across without really using their legs.

Dont get why Gong starts either.. she has one swing into the block and her defence is relatively poor.

I have credited Lang Ping with making the right decisions and substitutions - but lately I am not so sure... This game so far is an exact mirror image of every game China has played against USA and lost...

They need a reception specialist atleast. I don't think Lang Ping brought any for this VNL final.

It still doesn't sit right with me Robinson there, you had think US would have a natural libero to bring in. (From their wider system i mean, clearly they are not happy with the one squad.)

The era is against foreign libero for the females especially for the americans in foreign leagues.

Favorite players: M: Maxim Mikhaylov, Murilo, Serginho, Aaron Russell, Otavio, Simone Giannelli, Ivan Zaytsev, Tsvetan Sokolov, Michał Kubiak, Mariusz Wlazly, Pawel Zagummy W: Sheilla, Zhu Ting, Natalia, Fe Garay, Fofao, Gabi, Thaisa, Foluke Akinradewo, Wei Qiuyue, Ding Xia, Carli Lloyd, Fabi, Natalia Goncharova, Yuko Sano, Saoris Kimura and Sakoda

  • I always mix Akinradewo and Rachel Adams , spitting image of each other, but i am sure that's been mentioned before.

Akinradewo has such a distinctive body type. Never mixed them up. Foluke is the coolest looking player in this tournament

  • What's Micha's deal with serve.. I mean she has been making errors with her jump, today she has 2/2 errors on the floater

She was on her way to become one of the best jump servers in the world - she already was. Then suddenly Karch changed it to float. Her serves then were game changing.

Larson is really frustrating to watch. She was blocked several times even with high balls.

  • It was only a year or two ago Bartsch was coming off the bench for Schwerin(i think) it's amazing how far she has come.

That's not right. She came to German league in 2013 to Vilsbiburg as a tall, slightly overweighted girl with rather weak technique who benefited a lot from her height but was not great. After one season there she went to Dresden where within two years she became one of the best OHs of German league, possibly even the best. Then she went to a weak Italian team to be their best player, then on to a better Italian team where yet again she turned out the best player and now she's finally arriving in an absolute Italian top team and there she'll surely be the top player again. Great development!

I disagree with this. I have a more difficult time distinguishing Kim Hill and MHB at long distance than Akinradewo and Adams. :gone:

It's not that Robinson is bad particularly in Libero, she just shouldn't be there that USA, with all that player pool don't have a viable L in their wider system. I am sure they do,I guess they will only take 1 libero in their roster to the WCH's and are settling her in as back up.

Robinson is the titular. Wong Orantes is the back-up. There's no other way around that atleast for the WCH.

yea that's the answer ofc, i am just a lay man, i was just thinking all those college players, big pool etc.

I noticed in a close up she has more muscular arms then me, made me think maybe to hit a gym. Not saying she is over muscular or bulky. But you meant a different meaning of body type :)

  • She was on her way to become one of the best jump servers in the world - she already was. Then suddenly Karch changed it to float. Her serves then were game changing.

I think Karch changed her to floater because the jump wasn't effective this VNL.. I've seen her serve hard, and yes getting a lot of aces but to be fair that was in college, against Pan American teams, and in Poland.. the level of these teams is much higher

  • Can't believe this forum anymore really... Also when I'm not even here, a fight still backfires at me somehow... Turkey wins 3-0, 3-0!!!! and still the ifs and excuses are ready

pope this is the 10.000th time we went over this now I think. I think there was just 1-2 members who said VNL was not important while the rest thought it was very important from the Turksh members. And there was also a bunch that said its their all time fave tournament including me. STILL again after you deleted your post about this a month ago and said you would not talk about this you manage to do it again. I have no words
Rains indeed lol we even had an argument after I was angry at Gio for not taking it seriously but somehow pope still manages to lie about this the millionth time.

About the match, can I just say: EDA ERDEM IS A LEGEND!!!! She is still so underrated imo even if she gets praised here. I have been saying this for years, but whether in Fenerbahce or Turkish NT I have never seen a MB make such an impact to a team, ever. All the other girls were great as well, Cansu could be a bit shaky at times.

About the Turkey excuses: Turkish girls had zero rest for the whole tournament so cut that immediately tbh. Or the ones that say this is Brazilian B team, I mean cmon I like Brazil they just did not have their best day and Turkish players pushed them. Why cant we just accept this

This one needs a new alinea, the ''Oh, Turkey is only good bcs of Guidetti talks'' which I know you guys mean that. Gio is indeed a super coach and does everything right, and Turkey yes could probably not do all they did without him. But to me Turkey always had tons of talent, the switch between a terrible coach to a good coach is to me what actually has been making such a difference. JUST LOOK AT this squad! How many players were even here in Ferhat Akbas' reign. Ferhat was stuck with Polen, Busra, Nursevil, Gozde Yilmaz, Ozgenur etc etc etc

As the guy that interviewed Meliha said: 'It might have been a surprise to some, but you guys DEFINITELY belong here.'

  • What a great set, it deserved a better end than that though!

That free ball pass of Robinson at 22:22 was like travelling in time back to watching Nicole Davis pre-2012 :rolll:

I came back to the forum to write exactly same thing!

I can imagine it should be hard for a non-libero since it is something you almost never practice but for libero you shouldn't make such mistakes :hit:

  • That miss from Yuan was indicative of China's oopsing too much

  • Akinradewo has such a distinctive body type. Never mixed them up. Foluke is the coolest looking player in this tournament

Thanks for the info. I remember from her from Dresden( not Schwerin) in a euro comp, maybe CL, apparently a longer while ago then i thought. Lol basically getting old, the memory. She really didn't stand out as this current player at all, and no one mentioned her then, great improvement

ops, need to get the hang of quoting

  • Foluke! Monster Block!
