Van Avermaet crying broke my heart... she was good in this match and (if I remember correctly) the majority of the previous ones, especially considering she is playing out of position.

look at cai bin being happy with himself
ugh

I think China has chances to advance to the semifinal against Br or Italy.
I'd say something like "a man does not cross the same river twice, because it's not the same river and not the same man"
but don't think we have much chances.

😬 really? Why?

FINALLY a decent interpreter
I think it was Wei Quiyue's husband.
-
Wang Yunlu deserves some credits for her performance in this WCH
props to her for taking the criticism against her and turning that into massive improvement. She can at least carry her weight in the team, so that is a great improvement in itself.
-
For anyone who doubted
Li YY 16 pts 15-1/26 0.538
Herbots 21 pts 19-7/48 0.250
Wang Yunlu 15 pts 12-5/30 0.233

Most definitely a redemption from VNL.
-
Hope China get to meet Brazil in the semis! I quite like the Chinese team chances against them, now that WMJ is back as libero!

All of us Chinese posters:
-
lol yeah i feel pretty stupid now
-
😬 really? Why?
Because they are a great team. I think Chinese users are overreacting
-
Yeah but since WCH ultimately gives more ranking points than VNL I thought it'll be given more weight
but yeah injuries like you mentioned
Wasn't expecting this from USA though
The ranking points drop/rise of WCHs is really... a lot
USA is just a flop lol

USA is just a flop lol
Larson will have to play until she is 45, probably.
It's interesting that they left the least interesting matchup on paper of the entire second group stage for last.
-
Yes but at least for this year I figured we'd see a stronger squad for WCHs rather than the VNLs
Some did send stronger squads like Serbia, but some didnt and are experimenting more instead
Wch is not like VNL and can't ever be compared to VNL, maybe some teams didn't send their best squads because of injuries but this is the most prestigious tournament right after the OGs and that won't ever change.

I beg to differ

One of the most underrated aspects of Santarelli's impact is I feel his willingness to quickly replace anyone who has a bad spell or a bad day, and in general to experiment with lineups more than he absolutely needs to. This removes the bad play without destroying the player's confidence, because they know that nothing permanent was implanted in the coach's mind by their underperformance. The wonders of a good coach...
Speaking of which, I do believe China will secure their quarterfinal spot despite their coach's best efforts to the contrary.
Ok true

I'm surprised they did not put the hosts (Netherlands) last
