2022 FIVB Women's World Championships - Netherlands and Poland

  • If Cameroon wins against Porto Rico they might Get a spot in Olympics Qualyfiers às the spots should bê given till the team #26 on ranking ( excluding Fra and Russ). For sure Will Lost a Lot of points in this Qualys.

  • it's kind of messed up, isn't it? Kenya sweeps Cameroon 3-0 but in the end it may still be Cameroon who gets into the Olympics in Paris.

Ideally they both should be given a chance to play VNL with the powerhouse teams then the rankings will actually reflect who deserves it more accurately, since there is no longer a playoff for the Olympic spot.

There's still the 2023 African Championship... that will probably have the most impact on who gets the CAVB bid.

  • I don't thinks so, all African teams are rated bellow Kenya and Cameron

Yes, but they will still play each other.

As long as Cameroon/Kenya are not the host, they will be in the same group as each other (and will more than likely play twice)

Cameroon got +8 and +6 in their wins over Kenya in the 2021 African Championship.

imagine qualifying for the quals, going there, and then losing ranking points and becoming the 2nd african team and not going to the olympics in the end.

    Messy lol

  • What a match by Poland. I would like to see all the time playing like this. Finally they were focused in all duration of match, without any downs. I hope they will keep this lvl.

This is very very likely indeed 🤦 look at Mexico, they went up 4 places in the ranking since the start of WCH. Not playing in this tournament actually benefited them.

Introducing a bonus point to each team who qualifies to a tournament could be an option but then it could increase the gap between top and bottom teams. Any ideas to fix that 'glitch' in the ranking system?

I think "Introducing a bonus point to each team that entered a tournament" makes sense. But the bonus point should cover maybe 50-75% of the points that can be lost maximum in the tournament. So if a team loses all the matches in the tournament which means they lose 50 points, bonus points should be either 25 or 37.5 points.

I think every Olympic spot should be determined by tournament results and not world rankings.

They should use 2022 continental championships for continental spots and determine the remaining spots in a world qualifiers in 2023.

  • Thailand, hoping to bounce back from losing to Poland yesterday is starting with strongest lineup against Croatia !

Pimpichaya joins Chachu On and Acharaporn in attack, MBs Hattaya and Thatdao will try to improve their blocking and Pornpun will be distributing the balls....

The Thaiss already have a big lead 18-12 in set 1

  • after watching Poland’s game against Thailand this morning, I was reminded of how height can be such an advantage even against quick teams, with all those stuffed blocks. Not sure why China, although one of the tallest (if not the tallest?) teams, has such an ineffective block…
