CEV U17 Volleyball European Championship 2023 Women

  • Lol relax who really knows how to pass at this age?

I'd be more worried about our serve. 2 aces compared to 11 of Croatia.

Last Euro Turkey beat us 3-1 and aced us 15 times I think but we also aced them 18 times.

well it's not like Italian OHs are good at passing when they grow up. They are weak at junior teams and also weak at senior teams. There are reasons why Italy couldn't produce any OH these few years. Bad reception training is one of them, which start from very begining. I don't thing Croatia has strong serving, it's just Italy really bad at passing.

:what::what:the result doesn't matter that much. What's important is potential. Unfortunately i don't find anyone specifically talented in this group. Tosini is still uncertain. (you can clearly see the talent in Esposito/Adigwe/Manfredini/Alloui when they played U17)

Agreed about the training. That's been Italy's problem since some years ago but which OHs can do both pass and attack well? In the world only a handful and stop counting. And those who can pass well are sometimes lacking in attack.

And yeah Italy's current U19 is for me the world's most talented for this generation but even then got aced a ton last Euro. I don't think I ever saw a tournament in which teams ended with 40 aces together.

Anyways, I do see potential on Arianna, Tosini and Peroni. They're u17 ofc they will have ups and downs. Even senior NT players have them!

:lol:If Mencarelli is watching this thread. please hire Bosetti parents to train the Junior Team. They done an amazing job in Vakifbank.

I haven't kept up with the age group changes, but considering the 2008 players here you should compare it with the u16 in 2021 for the 2006 girls, not the u17 in 2022 - and at the time Allaoui was just the back up for Coba and Adigwe wasn't even with the team. I wouldn't be surprised if the team changes pretty drastically in the next age group, usually there are always at least 2/3 changes in the starters between the u16/17 and the u18, sometimes even more

  • Poland team isn't good. I am surprised they were able to win against Netherlands.

Is there a good team in this tournament?

  • greece and croatia

    I didn't see them.playing so i will judge

But are they really strong? In this categorie only needs made few errors and be precise and you win from everyone

  • Bulgaria's defeat today will give the pass in Italia for the semifinals as second in the first group.

Otoh Slovenia vs Turkey will be a decisive match. In case of a win by Slovenia,Turkey will probably be out of the semifinals...

It indeed increases Italy's chance to semi but these kids are very unstable so Italy could still lose to Netherland. too soon to tell
