2009 Women's Senior European Championship
Warsaw, August 2, 2008. The Drawing of Lots for the 2009 Women’s Senior European Championships is scheduled for next September 17 at 5 p.m. in the fascinating and charming frame provided by the Poznanskich Palace in Lodz (pictured left).
The Drawing will be carried out under the supervision of Dr. Jan Hronek, CEV Vice-President, along with Mr. Willy Bruninx, Secretary of the European Sports Organizing Commission (ESOC), and will be broadcast live by Polsat, Poland’s third biggest television channel, which has been regularly contributing to the promotion of volleyball competitions in that country.
Apart from the Drawing, which will define the composition of the four preliminary pools and appoint the 16 participating national teams to the various competition venues, the Polish Volleyball Federation and the CEV will unveil the official logo of the Championships and launch the website which is foreseen to provide users and volleyball fans with information and regular updates in five different languages (English, Polish, Italian, German and Russian).
12 teams plus Poland as the organizer of the event are already qualified to the final round of the 2009 Women’s European Championships, whilst the last three available spots will be determined after the 3rd and last Qualification Round scheduled for the beginning of September; the results of home and away matches featuring Belarus vs. Slovenia, Azerbaijan vs. Greece and Ukraine vs. Croatia will assign three more berths and grant a trip to Poland, which is eager to be affected by a real “volleyball fever”.

First and main problem is injury of Irina Zhukova. Seems that she is still not recovered. Second, Natalya Goncharova moves to Russia. She played really well in the first round of qualification tournament. Lesya Rykhlyuk will play instead, but her physical shape is not as good as the shape of her body

What a pity,Goncharova played really well in the first round.
It seems that Bogmatser will still be the setter, and only Turkula & Gasukha can get some spike points for UKR.
Lesya Rykhlyuk?Olesia Rykhliuk? I've never heard of this player, can you tell me sth.Why not just call Tatyana Voronina back?
I would bet on Croatia in this duel, but every result is possible, so... we will see
so Goncharova will be playing for the natioal team already?
