2015 World Cup - Japan - 8/22

  • I'm content for Serbia :D They probably should send a bunch of flowers to Russia, It's not end but I'm satisfied that at least one european team already qualified to Rio. Now I'm keeping my fingers for Russia.

  • Yep

  • Once again we can see 2014 WCH victory was accidental.

Hill is not USA NT material. The best she can do for this team is being service specialist. Lowe and Murphy at the best can be back ups. When the team doesn't work, the coach does nothing to help it.

Every time we meet teams with phisically dominant players we are in troubles. Serbia and Russia showed it. Height and power can overcome the system easily.

I want Hooker back. I'm tired of Kiraly. I hope federation changes coach. He has the best group USA ever had and can win something just when a player has the tournament of her life (Hill 2014 WCH, Lowe 2015 WGP), which they clearly cannot repeat.

His system is an epic fail when it matters.

    Bring Hooker back. Now!

  • Yes, you're right. The only problem there was Russia, with just Goncharova...

And about 2014 WCH I'm pretty sure we won just because brasilians collapsed under pressure to win the only gold medal they miss. China is similar to us, but Zhu is ways better than Hill. Italy was in the best four just because they were host.

  • Every single day a new record for Algeria :D I wonder how many scores they will point tonight against Japan.

  • For the match between RUS and CHN, aside from determining who will take gold, MVP always comes from the winning team right? If Russia holds out against China tomorrow, MVP will either be Kosheleva/ Goncharova, depending who plays better, and Zhu if China wins of course. I expect tomorrow will even be a bigger match, Davai Rossiya :box:

  • I hope China will show up very strongly tomorrow to pass the last real hurdle on her path to grab the Championship title and ticket to the 2016 Rio :drink:

  • Imagine how exciting and wide open European qualies are going to be if both Serbia and Russia go through here!

That's what I'm waiting for ^^ Italy, Germany, The Netherlands, Azerbaijan, Poland, Croatia, Bulgaria, Czech Republic and Turkey... It will be such a cutthroat competition.

In the meanwhile, Algeria made 24 points in total against Japan, Bravo

I count the points and for now: TUR (org), ITA, GER, BEL, POL, NED, CRO, BUL are the teams which are going to play in qualification tournament. That's the case if both RUS and SRB will qualify through WC.

Both AZE and CZE doesn't have a chance on OG, they need to be in top3 in ECH and CRO and BUL one of the last teams.

I honestly think it will be a competition between Italy and Turkey. Belgium and Netherlands can make surprises, but Netherlands with those setters has no chance and Belgium has to be in their best shape to qualify.

  • Congratulations to Russia for this victory, I didn't expect such a clear result. As italian I would be really happy if both the european teams qualify, but nothing is done yet, tomorrow Russia has to face China and it won't be simple.
I think that the US as a team are really strong but if their sistem doesn't work than there's is one that can bring the team out of trouble. If the blocking-defense and quick set sistem doesn't work as today, it looks like that USA do not have a plan B. O n the other side Fetisova played really well, beside Kosheleva and Goncharova (even if today she has been stopped more often than usual). I also liked Shcherban!

    Hvala for the information.

Too bad for players like Havelkova, Havlickova and Rahimova.

I remember 3 years ago when The Netherlands didn't make it to London, Manon was full of disappointment and she said she would try everything she could for qualifying to Rio 2016, I really hope she and her teammates can make it, with Guidetti, I find it quite positive.

I would be surprised if Italy doesn't make it, It's somehow common seeing Italy in the olympic games despite no medals recently.

Don't forget that the second and third placed teams book a ticket for the World qualies and basically every team there can be in contention for the third place. It should be really exciting.

I think that this time qualification for Italy is more difficult than the last two times. In 2007 and 2011 we won WC but then at the Olympics we didn't do anything... Now we have to pass through the European tournament with great competiotion, hoping to get the spot! That's why I'm hoping both Serbia and Russia qualifies, at least the competition would be less :)
