Les pieds dans le fumier, mais toujours le verbe haut et la tête droite ! Cocorico !

  • This is actually a continuation from the ECh thread, this topic is probably more suited here. The main reason such teams aren't giving a chance to local players is simple - they are more expensive. It might seem counter-intuitive, but it's really not. See, local players simply have more options. Most of them are balancing between volleyball and school/college waiting to see how things pan out. For them to go into volleyball full time, they need to be paid more than they would be in some other profession, and in a league like German, many/most teams just can't compete with that. On the other hand, foreign players are already full time pros and need to take whatever chance they get. Often they'd be willing to make a sacrifice and spend a season or two in a lower paying league and make an impact there, so they could move somewhere they'd earn more money.
So, a local player might be marginally better than some mediocre foreigner, but when you take everything into account, she's just not worthwhile enough for the club.

And don't forget the still increasing drain to beach volleyball in Germany too - there are much better chances to earn considerable money for good players than in classic volleyball nowadays, which can be achieved there only by leaving Germany and play in stronger and better financed foreign leagues...

  • Also Chaplina will play for Krasnodar. Their roster for this season is really weak.

  • Austrian setter Anna Maria Bajde in Suhl

  • Volero will have Zinkovic and Fabiola. Are they keeping Antonijevic also? What a waste, unfortunately the Swiss league level is low and they dont need 3 world class setters, only 1 is enough.

  • Yeah that is what I meant. Volero is way too strong compared with the other teams, that`s why they don`t need ZInkovic and Fabiola.

Krista Vansant ( American OH) that played for Volero, gave a interview where she said the Swiss league level is a lot worst than NCAA, and that the Champions League is only a bit better than NCAA. ANd only the really TOP teams are really good.

Poor girl, I dont know how she knows the level of CL once she barely got the chance to play.. oloolol

I think she was just pissed because she did not get offers from big clubs and did not make to the NT in 2016.

Now she works for the University of WA with the volleyball team, it says she is a assistant, but on her Linkedin profile she says one of her duties is to update the team`s facebook profile ololololo

  • Honestly would you stop talking shit about all the american players? I have seen numerous times that you have some negative things to say about the american players and you still have the star-spangled volleyball as your avatar it just makes me so angry like you don't even like team usa you literally hate all the players

  • What? The Swiss League is much lower level than the good Division 1 teams. That's why marginal NCAA players get contracts in Switzerland and play big roles on their teams.

And there are a few low level teams in Champions League (actually quite a few recently).....

She is not wrong, you're just trying (and failing) to be sassy on the internet.

  • She's the one bashing the teams in Europe saying they are low level.

So why was she the bench player? If the level is really low, she should be the key player in Volero.
