there are reasons why poland won bronze in vnl, they were physically good and there wasn't a setter who pushes the tempo unnecessarily.

I genuinely believe that this VNL was just a fluke for Poland our level after that just got back to where it was.
Poland had to peak in VNL due to their poor ranking. They had to rebuild it to have a shot at OG considering we have USA and Italy in the pool. So it was rational thing to do and now they are tired as they play almost every match with the same team.

Germany again with a major glitch, losing first set badly.
-
Just tuning in, but what a good start for Slovenia! Can they pull a stunt?
-
slovenia what a bright future
-
Weitzel is so amazing
-
If I were Kästner I would set all balls to Weitzel, she's just amazing
-
Siftar is insane
-
Oh no, Slovenia could have led 6 points if they challenged block touch instead of go to the ref for defence touch... what a shame, hopefully it won't harm them in the end
-
This German team doesn't deserve to participate in the Olympics to be honest, of course it is not their fault the many injuries weakening the roster (longer in the past Vanjak, than Orthmann and also Hölzig).
-
Come on Slovenia, don't forget to reward yourselves with a win tonight!!
-
What a choke by Slovenia omg
-
What a choke by Slovenia omg
hate it here

8 points on Pia Kaestner's serve saved the tiebrak for Germany!
-
Nooo, how heartbreaking for Slovenia they really deserved this win! I guess experience and Weitzel made the difference in the end. Germany should really improve though if they wanna beat the top teams this weekend, even though the others don't look their best either
-
Pretty unlucky for the super talented Slowenian team caught in a bad rotation towards the end of the fifth set.
On the German side - the loss of Orthmann in attack obviously is very hard to compensate for this team. Otherwise great fighting spirit and Weitzel for the rescue, Clearly MVP and getting better and better.

You can't really say that they didn't try their best after losing some of their players to injury. Improving isn't going to be done that way.

Of course they tried. I just think that they didn't show a continuous fighting spirit like in set 5. At some point their eyes changed into a "we gonna win this" fire. If they can do that from the start (and hold it throughout the match), I could definitely see them beat some top teams for sure! Even without the injured players, because the talent is there for sure
