Nation League Man 2023

  • USA always relies on their serve so much... it's a very unpopular opinion but I rarely find them an interesting team to watch because of that.

They even had 6 rotations of jump serve before in 2018 WCH.

A bit offtopic but i remember in the crucial group match against Argentina during Tokyo Olympic, their serves betrayed them so hard... probably the pressure of losing getting to their head and they kept serving fault balls from the start to the end of the match. They made tons of serving errors in that match and got eliminated.

  • Congrats to Argentina winning this match. Despite making some uncharacteristic serve mistakes, De Cecco's craftiness and talents in setting cannot be paralleled.

On the other hand, Anderson was obviously tired in the 5th set. Unfortunately, he could hardly take a rest given the depth of the opposite position.

  • What a rollercoaster of a match Japan-Italy is turning out to be, 0-2 for now but both sets ended at advantages. The second one was particularly intense because of the Italian comeback.

It's amazing how Italy kept their composure despite Japan having the setpoint in the first 2 sets. They might just be the team to break Japan's winning streak! Lavia is currently soooo gooood.

Very entertaining match overall, another comeback in the fourth basically sealed the win for us. Limiting the errors in the closing phases of the sets really gave us the boost to get the job done, but it could have ended in any results. This Japan is a real challenge for everybody, pity they lost a little bit of composure in the heat of the moment.

And I agree with you, Lavia getting better is a huge thing for us.

  • Looking at the Challengers

BUL is still in VNL for 2024, as the CAN-CHN loser even if it goes 5, cannot match BUL with 8 points if tied on 2 wins.

CUB needs at least 2 set wins vs. IRI and have CAN-CHN not go five, to stay in VNL for 2024.

Winner of CAN-CHN will stay in VNL for 2024.

If CAN-CHN goes 5 sets, and CUB losses in <5 sets, CAN and CHN will stay in VNL for 2024.

  • Argentina playing a very low energy match which I was fully expecting after yesterdays late hour marathon.

At this point I'd gladly take a 3-1 defeat in hope SLO wins against NED later. 7th seed may not be the worst. Anything but playing POL is good for this team...
