2021 Women Volleyball Nations League

  • Both sides are missing a lot of key players... but China's B team better win if they want to make the final 4.

Yup, I know. But still I think that they're better than KYK and some weak players

  • China B should win, they already made semi final in last edition

korea lost 2 best players besides kim and now she's gonna be alone

Uhm about netherlands vs belgium imo belgium if favourite if they play complete

  • Salima Rockwell (Athlete's Unlimited) is going to be 1 of 7 (English, I assume) commentators on site in Italy for the VNL

edit: Salima is also hosting a daily show, with recaps and highlights on VolleyballWorld TV. we love to see it

  • Yup, I know. But still I think that they're better than KYK and some weak players

I agree that they "should" win, but nothing is certain in sports, especially since we had a pandemic that ended all international competition for almost 2 years.

  • China is the favorite but Korea is not so bad imo, who knows the new names might show something fun too. I felt the Korean teams issue was also a lack of change inside the squads at times anyway. I think it will be a tight match.

Belgium Netherlands I expect another tight match, Belgium looks the slight fave here.

  • Turkey player in turkey league20/21

The great difference isn't in the attack ability in Karakurt and Boz, but Karakurt is more effective in blocking and service.

There is a Turkish problem with the offensive power of the reception hitter. The attack score by which offensive Baladin is per a set, 2.3 points aren't quite satisfactory. It looks efficient with 48%, but only 42 sets of Senoglu appears. The other ones are defending WS.

  • CHN B will defeat KOR... this VNL is important for selecting sub players to Tokyo OG, Lang Ping lead the B team in person, not a usual practice (usu. it's the responsibility of An Jiajie), Lang won't accept defeat from KOR. And in VNL 2019, CHN B team advanced into SF.

Btw, the remaining CHN A (6 players) will join in the Week 4th, thus the team may be eyeing for the Top-4.

I think BEL will beat NED, the BEL is solid, no changes in personnel while NED is still adapting post Sloetjes. Nonetheless it should be a tight match. And if bookmakers are so convinced on NED, if it means the betting conditions favor BEL a lot, if I am a bettor, I'll put my wager on BEL :D

  • According to the reporters that went with the Chinese NT, China, USA (lucky them, apparently they got the side of the hotel facing the sea), Turkey, Poland, and Japan are in one hotel.

Russia's hotel has 8 teams total.

Guidetti and Lang Ping also had a nice chat, apparently.

  • Ana Cristina de Souza is super Rookie.

With possibilities which will become the world class several years later.

She appears by a Brazilian league 97 sets. There are attack decision rate 39% (the 9th) and 3.1 points/set and an offensive power of course. It isn't bad at 0.34Block/set and 0.21ace/set.

Above all, 412 receptions are fine for a place as success rate 60% (the 19th).

    192 cm, 17 years old.

  • What are your thoughts about:

    Netherlands vs Belgium

I think it will be a tight match!

I expect Plak won't play yet, so we will see same starting 7 for Dutch NT as in their last friendly match against Belgium. On Belgium side I expect Grobelna and Herbots to play this time, wich makes a huge difference!

Reception will be key for the Netherlands to play well. During friendly match this was the biggest issue. Buijs - Daalderop isn't the best receiving outside hitter duo already, but IMO libero Schoot was the weakest point in reception during the friendly match. When reception is okay, there's a chance to involve the middles and Baijens and Timmerman are good attacking middle blockers! Also I believe Bongaerts is the better setter over van de Vyver.

Belgium looks like a sollid team, but when the Netherlands is able to play at a decent level, I believe they are the better team.

  • god can you imagine karch trying his fast system with Stysiak

I consider Stysiak to be very dynamic and well-coordinated for a player of that height. Let's not forget her epic footsaves :) one against Turkey and another one in some Serie A game. She's waaaaay better than Gamova or Diouf (just two random opps of that height who popped up in my head) as far as moving on the court goes. Of course I am not saying Stysiak would be a great fit for USA NT :D but just needed to add my 2 cents.

Remember Egonu before joining Conegliano? Everyone thought it would only be sky high balls moving forward and that their famous fast system would no longer hold. But no, Wolosz and Paola totally clicked when it came to fast gameplay. I think Wolosz should get a bit more credit for Paola's monster performances this season

    Sorry for the off-topic I guess :)
