Oh my! Azerbaijan might be the underdog of the group. Not sure what happened by everyone in their team looked very hyped, especially the middles and Samodova.

Also their new coach (ex GS coach) is probably the best Turkish coach and his signatures are good serves/defense. That's why I think they were missing a lot of serves and won't be surprised if they challenge someone in a good day, when all their serves are placed in.

I also noticed that he was asking the setter to play a bit faster but not sure if she can make it and also whether their wings are able to hit such balls, will be interesting to see their development. But in overall, I think I have not seen them this happy and enjoying on the court, well done.

With this, I am getting worried about Sweden. I hope the wings will do their best to keep them in top 4, the level seems very close between all others except the top 2 of the group.

Sweden need to buy a decent receiving wing spiker as other countries in order to help Haak, otherwise Isabelle, please go and play for France!

Shows your knowledge of volleyball unfortunately...

Any team on earth would have troubles for the serves coming from Vargas, Ebrar etc. Turkey's trademark is good serves. Don't think Swedish wings will have this big troubles in receiving.

What Sweden needs to buy is a setter, libero and two proper middles and a proper coach of course. But in general, considering the level of volleyball, lack of investments, it being an amateur sport even in Elite level in Sweden, "buying a player or two" (ugh what an ugly term and shame that it is allowed to be used here) won't help Sweden either.

Melisa was a big disappointment🤦 I wish they got Lisa safronova Instead of Eylül

Not sure about Liza, I would like her to be in the squad since none of the OHs will be consistent. But her attacking technique looked really really bad and she had no power. At least Eylul can swing a ball properly although her receiving and defensive skills are way worse.

I agree, biggest dissapointment was Melisa but I did not like Dilay's setting to zone 4 at all, she was very inconsistent with her sets to wings in general but Beren could do some extras with bad sets, on the other side Melisa was just hitting the block.

I liked the Dutch team! One of their OHs was hitting really good and also their opposite was powerful. I liked the middles too. Only weak spot was the libero which made it that Turkey won 3-2.

On Turkish side, there is a serious problem when Beren is your best scorer. Neither the OHs, nor the middles were useful in attacking. I will be surprised if this team goes far in this tournament.

Would be fun if we actually invested money on our bets here. Then I am sure a majority of the predictions would change.

Btw it is annoying that some teams did not even play their first match and actually these are the ones I would be enjoying to watch.

I would like to see Turkey and Poland getting 1st and 2nd places, both deserved it with their increasing momentum in recent years and especially this summer. For the other spot, I guess Italy/Serbia will be main candidates though I would prefer non of them getting medals, I want Mazzanti to be punished and don't like Guidetti either.

My wishful thinking would be 1-Turkey, 2-Poland, 3-Sweden lol. But realistically it is difficult to predict how the order will be between Turkey, Poland, Serbia and Italy.

But sadly you guys(turkish) are problem and not trollers(jules,crovolley...). You literally seeing provocations in everything and always playing with a victim cards. (and you attack italians equally for example).

Some of you literally said few days ago that post(i dont remember user) that did not contained turkiye as one of favorites are small provocation. :)

Also there is a fact, that User and Serdar are also trollers and spammers and enjoy provoking others.

Well done because I know you are one of them too...and go read that post again, if your english is bad, then it is my bad. But anyone with proper english skills could see what you were trying to do.

Eventually my solution to the Turkish users of this forum is that we create a list of "trolls" and just block them. Maybe that will be the best. I am tired of arguing with teenagers.

In this forum many got banned previously because of constant provocations and using inappropriate language, fake accounts etc. So this is nothing new. And to be honest, until crovolley arrived, it was a very peaceful environment. Now he is a much better user compared to the other new comers, who are here simply just to troll. I am ok with people having different opinions but if you do it intentionally, everyday, a couple of times, just to provoke, then I guess your intention is not to really have a different opinion, but just trolling the forum so that mods give up and leave.

Lol we go through the same issues again but look who started it once again with yet another provocative message. I will keep reminding this everytime the same 2-3 users provoke so hopefully it will be more clear and finally they will get a ban.

Italy have always had a little of drama and beef

It didn't bother them be the best european team and one of the best with russia and serbia

It wasn't a problem to play and beat other teams that have a better environment

Provocation alert...these kind of posts were what I meant earlier on and this is still a mild version lol.

With this you just proved that racism is just your imagination. You guys so often played that victim card that you started believing in it at the end.

Why mention Turkey? Well if i said we beat Albania 10 days ago, that wouldn't be good example that team is not that bad even without first team. How you dont get that simple comparisons in sport?

But even after that, i am sure you will not accept that all of that is just in your heads.

Problem is you don't make simple comparisons. You just keep bringing a comparison with Turkey over and over. My imagination is hopefully imaginary but not sure how to explain your obsession otherwise.

I hope someone will be able to help Mathias and once again a big thanks to him for keeping this forum live.

When it comes to the issue with racism, problem is, besides a few very obvious attempts, the comments are not directly racist and therefore difficult to act upon. On the other side, the main problem is provocations and a few users do this soooo well. For example, a user says "...and we have beaten Turkey so easily in this tournament, twice, in last 10 days" just to explain that his country will do great in another tournament. Problem is, why does he need to mention Turkey to prove his point? This is pure provocation.

Another example is a user who comes to the forum as soon as Turkey loses something and reports it like "finally the worst team lost and they never deserved it". Once again, these types of comments are not directly racist (although I believe these users are), but being extremely provocative. So I guess if we see such patterns in the future from the same user, maybe they should be temporarily banned.

I mean I don't need to bring up one of the Serbia, USA or Brazil and thrash them to prove my point that my country is the favorite of a tournament. Once can be a coincidence, but everyday is not.

With this, I hope these users stop using (or abusing) "Turkey" to prove their points, at least for a while. I am sure we will get a more peaceful forum.

I find it awkward we are discussing where people want to work in 2023. It can happen that you don't feel comfortable wherever you are from and move to another country and once you get the citizenship, start playing volleyball for that country. Nobody judges you guys for working/living in abroad, why do you judge these people?

If you say money is the problem, people have different motives in their lifes and different things that motivate them, for some it can be gratitude or feeling of belonging, for others it can be money. Let it be, who are you to judge and tell someone not to change their nationality and represent another country lol. I would slap anyone in case I represented Sweden in anything and they criticised me for that.

Oh dear, it must be difficult for a lot of girls to play volleyball in such a toxic environment. I feel sad mostly for Paola.

Will be interesting if Mazzanti gets fired. Who will they go for? Lavarini or Santarelli seem like the best options but not sure if they would leave before olympics. If Giovanni fails with Serbia in ECH and starts complaining about OHs, then we might know what is about to come. Though I think having a coach like Guidetti can make things only worse since he did exactly what Mazzanti is doing with Italy in Turkey.

I really liked the US team. Their middles looked good at set 2 and 3 and then they looked amateurish in rest until that slider girl started hit insanely. I love how these youngsters in US play like their A team, almost the same system, speed etc. Especially the OHs were great, they could use the ball well in attacking which is special for this age group. Only player I would criticise is the setter who seemed to be much worse than rest of the team and she was the reason why everyone was getting blocked and making errors in attacking at set 4. Also someone should teach her how to dump a 2nd ball :S

On Brazilian side, I have not seen a worse libero for a long time. Not to ruin the poor girls career but couldn't a volleyball country like Brazil find a better libero than her? She was targeted all match by the US servers and was receiving terribly.

USA-Italy will be a duel of OHs and bad setters I think. I think USA might win.

For Turkey-Japan, I think Japan might be in favor. Turkey relies alot on serves while receiving bad and seems like only the opposite can attack. I am sure Japan will stop her in block-defense since she is a relatively short opposite and can't go over the block. Lets see who will serve better!

I enjoy this tight competition between OHs, more importantly, all of the OHs are in teams where they can play in starting 6 whole season: Saliha in Poland, Ilkin in GS, Derya in Japan, Tugba in Kuzeyboru. I hope none of them will be injured and there will be more data for Santarelli to pick the 4th OH.

I think his choice of Ayca instead of a 5th OH made sense, since none of the OHs could be as useful as her in backrow. However, with Ayca in the back, there is no chance for a pipe attack which makes it obvious that the front OH will get most of the sets. This substitution could be more useful with another OH who could receive and at least attack ok from backrow.

With this, I hope it is last summer of libero Simge in the NT. Gizem Örge showed that she is much better and Simge was not needed at all during VNL. Ayca was used as a backrow substitution, not Simge either. Moreover, Simge is 32 already, so I would rather invest on Gizem and Ayca duo at this point.

Maja Jonsson worked at a local supermarket shop in the rather sleepy village of Sollebrunn for a living last year and played in the Swedish 2.Division for Bjärke. Now she is all of a sudden representing the Swedish Champions and was labeled a "diamond" by the management. The Swedish newspaper Helsingborgs Dagblad referred to her as "jättetalangen" which means "huge talent" in English. How the tables turns. Btw, once another tall Swede emerged in Engelholm as a rocket on her first road up to the volleyball skies, Isabelle Haak.

Maja Jonsson is listed as 196 cm by VolleyBox but could just as well be taller, like 200 cm. I am 185 cm and felt extremely short standing besides her, lmao. This is the type of player Sweden needs. With a strong Camilla Weitzel type of player in the middle its insane how ameliorated Swedish NT would be in the future.

Omg! I remember my girls playing against her in VSS (local tournaments) 4-5 years ago and already back then, she was a giant, being very clumsy. I heard that she improved a lot though, have better control of her body.

On the other hand, this shows the problem of the Swedish volleyball in general: "no matter how talented or physically perfect you are, there is no place where you can improve yourself". Engelholm might be the only exception but I still feel like Bella was just a miracle. It will be very difficult for Maja to catch up at international level, I mean most of her competitors have been training twice a day, 5 days a week while she has been training 2-3 times a week in VK Bjärke. I was surprised that she did not join RIG where she could at least get more training hours.

Btw, I think the primary problem of Swedish NT is setters and I don't see anyone coming soon to fix this problem. Naturalising a player to that position might make miracles for the Swedish NT and make volleyball more popular, increasing investments etc. Btw serdar don't you remember Julevik? She was playing in your old club, Tuve VK and won the U18 mastership in Sweden.
