Scenarios for Italy...
Win 3-0 with +10 point margin: R16 vs Cuba, QF vs (possibly) France, SF vs Slovenia/Netherlands.
Win 3-1 or 3-0 with less than 10 point margin: R16 vs Argentina, QF vs (possibly) Brazil, SF vs (possibly) Poland
Win 3-2: Could finish anywhere from top to bottom of FRA, BRA, NED depending on margin of points.
Lose: R16 vs Turkey or Ukraine, QF vs (possibly) Slovenia, SF vs (possibly) Serbia or France.
-
Netherlands went from 9-15 down to a 25-18 win in the 4th set
-
Netherlands will go very far, you heard it here first 😅

If Italy doesn't throw their game the NED path will be UKR/TUR in round of 16 and SLO/GER in QF which is... doable.

Visotto played as setter for Brazil in 2010 WCH to lose a match. Will Italy do the same? I wanna see Recine as middle lol.

Iran did everything to avoid USA in 1/8 😅

Theo*. But yeah, China has only mathematical chances to advance, so losing on purpose may be more difficult that we anticipate.

They wouldn't play against them in any scenario in 1/8.

our coach completely blew up everything in the 4th set. Iran was leading 13-6 but lost it 18-25 !!! Piazza should seriously thank him for those subs. Ataei completely ignored the problem (which was the reception) and subbed the players who were actually doing OK. I mean Esmaeilnejad was terrible the whole tournament but he got subbed right when he was doing good !
it's easy to control the team in normal situations but today match was different, he simply lost his control over the bench and the players weren't listening to him at some point.
I had no hope on this coach to be honest but those VNL results changed my mind, now I know my original thought was correct. they weren't under pressure during VNL but that 4th set meltdown under pressure clearly shows this guy is not right for the job.

Someone should tell CEV to stop promoting this Chinese garbage team they are nowhere near world championship or VNL level. Utterly digusting to watch teams playng in these tournaments while they don't even deserve it.

Even if Anzani plays as setter, China would still lose in straight sets. They can’t even pass and serve properly.
-
Until then they will be having games like today's against Italy where they struggle to even spike the ball in front of empty arenas, those European championship qualifiers were far more tense than this shitfest.
-
China was unexpectedly okay in VNL, here they're just completely out of shape (and play for nothing at this point).
-
Btw I wonder how much worse would be some teams like South Korea or Australia, they are not first tier level but at least they would be competitive. Not even talking about some European countries like Portugal, Finland or even Greece and Belgium. But they don't get invitation to play in the retarded VNL to earn ranking points because they are having lack of funds I suppose?

México won against Bulgaria

Yeah. This is the biggest surprise so far in this WCH. I was shocked when saw the result, didn't watch the match.
-
So we're having teams who can't even make 15 points in a set getting wild cards to play in World championship because of the Fivb ranking instead of having an actual qualification.
Is it because Fivb's beloved federations would actually miss the tournament ?
-
China would have probably qualified to WCH in the past formula (4 AVC teams) as well since they were 3rd at the last Asian Volleyball Championship, there's no reason to bash them that much (even if they're terrible here).
