Great match, such a high level with long rallies with great defense from both sides !
It’s entertaining, sure. But high level? Not so much

God, Novara did everything they could not to win this set!
Especially Hancock with her bad choices and imprecise sets!On the other hand, it's a joy to watch this match!
The whole 2nd set she was bad. However, when she was replaced by Zanette for blocking, that chance got wasted due to setter was not on the court.
Many chances got wasted by Novara.

I don't blame the errors though when it's 38-38 lol, imagine how tense that must be
well, there were many other opportunities that Novara couldn’t take before it came to 38-38 lol one was a free ball that Washington hit straight into the net

I also don’t get why Daalderop is replaced after 20 points. I thought Herbots just came in as a serving or backrow sub, but she’s still on the court now! Daalderop played so well while Herbots contributed nothing so far, why put your best player on bench at the most critical moments??
They were trading points quite regularly with Herbots in and Lavarini wanted to use her serve a second time before subbing her out.

Novara can only blame Lavarini and themselves for losing this set. Too many wasted opportunities. Imoco was not playing well as Wolosz’ sets were often too low. You can’t let so many chances to slip out from your hands if you want to win the final.
I don’t think anyone can be blamed for this, that was a really hard fight anyway.

She was playing her usual game before the latter part of the 2nd set.

Herbots’ backrow attack got stuff blocked, she couldn’t score when she was rotated to the front row neither. Lavarini should have put Daalderop back in court to close the set, as she’s the one who constantly scored in the match, not to “wait” Herbots to get back to the backrow for the second time to use her serve. That’d be the most stupid strategy and that’s why Lavarini is the one to blame for losing the set.

Because she isnt scoring the clutch points, especially the OOS, when the contribution of your OPP matter the most. According to the commentators, she is the top scorer of Novara, but not with a good effiencty (below 40%). She is still playing much, much better than in other matches during this season, but still below her standards. We all have seen her smashing and smashing difficult balls, especially with Polska NT.
Novara had at least 5 set points with her attacking for the 0-2, but she was dug, blocked (not kill blocked) or easily passed the ball.
Zanette isnt an option for this kind of matches, so the only option would be to play with Herbots/Daalderop as OPP.
It is obvious Lavarini is trying to give her confidence, cuz once she is confident, she can be super dangerous.

Agree. She came in at 21-21, committed her first attack error hitting out of bounds to make it 27-28 Imoco. She should’ve been subbed out at this point.
She got stuffed in the 30s when Hancock chose to set her in the back row instead of two pins in the front who were attacking well. One of many bonehead moments by Hancock in that stretch.

Egonu is serving terrible today and that is so strange from her , She has so many errors from service line

I expect Conegliano to go from 50%-of-sets-to-Egonu mode to almost-every-set-to-Egonu mode really soon, it looks like they'll be in huge troubles today.
Daalderop is much more resilient on Conegliano block than Herbots has ever been.
