Italian Women NT 2021

    I will already make thread for 2021. because this season with NT is already done.


    Lucia Bosetti is clearly happy with new date of Olympics. Now She will have enough time to comeback in the righr way and Italy got one more year for new youngster to grow as Lubian, Pietrini, Fahr and Gennari and so on.


    I hope Malinov and Orro will get some new challengers for setter position...

    Here's the topic to comment on Italian NT

    IMO these players should be considered for a next year call

    Full roster for vnl and olynpics

    Setter:malinov,orro,cambi,signorile,bosio

    Opposite:Egonu,sorokaite,enweonwu,nwakalor

    Middle blocker:Folie,danesi,chirichella,fahr,lubian,bonifacio

    Outside hitter:c.bosetti,sylla,pietrini,l.bosetti,perinelli,villani,(gennari?) (guerra?)

    Libero: Moki de gennaro,parrochiale,de bortoli,venturi


    in black the numbers that are sure imo for olympics

    Maybe you ask why chirichella is in but she's the captain and she has an injury,can get better.

    I didn't want to add so many players cause IMO mazzanti should ONLY try players with potential to be at olympics,others could have opportunity later.

    I think we can keep this one as the official one... It's featuring in the "Hot Threads" tab at the moment so it will probably receive more attention than the others

    I think one between Cambi and Signorile wouldn't be part of that list, Cambi has her relative young age on her side but she isn't playing great so I think Signorile still has some chances, it will depend on Cuneo's results at the end of Serie A1

    I'm so sad that Gennari can't show herself enough for Mazzanti and I know She will not get any chance in NT, but that girl proved herself everytime when She came in. When She is playing with starting six with Conegliano. They are perfect as with Wolosz.


    She is playing with half NT players, even half of starting six. She doesn't need extra time to "adapt".

    She is great server, She has great coach right behind her and She is playing in the best club in the World right now for 2years.


    That is my opinion :teach:

    But for me their is not doubt about 4 OHs.

    C.Bosetti clear starter, second next to her is Sylla or Pietrini.


    L.Bosetti showed herself as libero in Scandicci that She can bring so much with her AMAZING defense. She can help a lot in that part of the game. Noone except from her to scorer.

    I would bring Sylvia Nwakalor as back up for Egonu or Mingardi.


    And MB current performance are Folie, Danesi, Fahr but It is impossible that Mazzanti will leave Christina at home. :rolleyes:

    i didn't put mingardi cause her didn't show herself when had the chance

    She's still young but I use her after tokyo,don't see her making to the list in tokio

    For me the next 12 players should be in the squad for the Olympics:

    S: Orro & Malinov

    OPP: Egonu & Sorokaite

    OH: C. Bosetti, Sylla, Pietrini & L. Bosetti

    MB: Folie, Fahr & Danesi

    L: De Gennaro


    Malinov isn't playing good, but she showed her value multiple times last few years in NT, so she should be there. Also there isn't a better option than her:whistle:Orro should finally the starting setter again.

    Sorokaite made the worst transfer possible going to Japan... She should have stayed in Conegliano or transfer to a lower ranked team in Italian league, so she could be a starter. They don't necessary need an second opposite as substitution for Egonu, but Sorokaite could be perfect since she can play both opposite and as outside hitter.

    IMO all 4 outside hitters are locked spots. Lucia Bosetti could be a question, but they can use her as defensive specialist when reception for Sylla or Pietrini isn't working. She has better reception than all other libero's available (except from De Gennaro), so I would bring her.

    Middle blocker position is the strongest occupied. Mazanti could consider to bring a fourth middle blocker, since Folie is injury prone.


    Following Could be considered to replace one of the players mentioned above:

    S: Bosio & Cambi

    OPP: Nwakalor & Mingardi

    OH: Gennari & Degradi

    MB: Bonifacio, Lubian, Chirichella & Melandri.

    L: De Bortolio & Parochiale


    I think both Bosio & Cambi aren't needed if both Orro and Malinov stay healthy. Bosio is having a great season so far, so at this moment she is the best option to replace one of those setters. I'm afraid Cambi can't handle international level anymore...

    When Sorokaite isn't in the right shape, they should take Nwakalor. Mingardi could be an option, but she isn't as good as last year in Brescia.

    Gennari couldbe considered instead of Lucia Bosetti, because she could contribute in attack. I would have liked to see Degradi get a chance in VNL, but looking at her injury I don't think she is ready.

    As I already said the middle blocker position is the strongest occupied. Probably Chirichella will be with the team, but I would choose all mentioned middle blockers above her.

    For back-up libero De Bortolio is the best option, she is playing really stable in Chieri. I'm not a fan of Parochiale and is overated IMO....

    I put these in order to give rest to malinov and orro some weeks

    But last generation i don't see anyone as good

    Going by interviews and rumors from last year, this is what I think the squad for the Olympics is going to be:


    S: Orro, Malinov

    Opp: Egonu

    OH: C. Bosetti, Sylla, Pietrini, Sorokaite (playing both Opp and OH)

    MB: Chirichella, Folie, Danesi, Fahr

    L: De Gennaro


    I personally wouldn't like this, and I would prefer an actual defensive OH instead of Sorokaite whom is not going to add much in reception and defense, but with Lucia still in this condition it wouldn't make sense to bring her, so I'm not sure who I would call as 4th OH.


    For the VNL, if they go by what was planned for last year, players with a secure spot for the OG are not going to play and Mazzanti is not even going to be there but Bellano (coach of Club Italia). So I think the wide roaster (even though I don't remember how many players have to be in it, 24?) could look something like:


    S: Bosio, Cambi, and maybe Monza and/or Guiducci (setters of u20 team, just to try them on higher level). TBH I don't think he's ever going to call Signorile.

    Opp: Nwakalor, Mingardi, Enweonwu, Piani, and maybe Frosini

    OH: Perinelli, Villani, Guerra, Melli, possibly Dodorico and Populini (even though she's never playing) and maybe some youngsters that are doing good in Club Italia/A2 like Gardini/Piva/Bassi/Nervini

    MB: Bonifacio, Lubian, Mazzaro, Kone (if she improves on this last part of the season), possibly Berti again and Furlan, maybe Linda Nwakalor and Graziani from Club Italia

    L: it's obviously the role with more choices, clearly Parrocchiale is a lock on considering she's been the back up in all the main competitions for years now, then someone of De Bortoli, Zannoni, Spirito, Venturi, Fersino

    Having a 4th middle doesn't make sense for most teams, unless your pins are super versatile.
