Transfer Rumors & Discussion (2024/2025)

  • Yes, he said Zhu will cut her salary and the final sentence is about Pietrini's future, Milan or abroad. I really don't see her there, unless Folie leaves.

  • So what will they do with that alot foreign players? Lol

    haak

    Gabi

    Zhu

    Alsmier

    Lanier

    Butigan/robin

    Japanese setter

    Wolosz

  • The starting seven should be:

    Wolosz / Haak

    Gabi / Zhu

    Lubian / Fahr

    Moki

They already have a foreign back up setter, foreign 3rd OH and foreign MB this year, so it wouldn't be that different.

I'm not sure if Lanier is staying, and Alsmeier was also linked to Novara. Robin is leaving.

  • Conegliano might built a dream team on paper.

  • If rumors are true they will have Chirichella also as italian and there were some ideas that they might get an italian youngster as 4th MB. But I get that also having an italian OH would help them to balance the lineup.

No info on second opposite, if Piani stays it's yet another italian.

  • I don't think it should be a problem. If they make sure to have 4 Italian MBs and Moki+Bardaro, they could even get a foreign Opp2 because there will always be 3 Italians on court! This way they can easily rotate the four OHs. And with this kind of OH/MB power, the second opposite doesn't need to be a 'carry the load' type, scoring 10+ points in 3 sets should be sufficient (and they could mix 'n match with the setters, so everyone can make minutes and get rest when needed).

As much as I love Robin, I think going for this tactic of 4 Italian MBs is the smartest if you already have Lubian/Fahr as powerhouses. Besides CL she barely plays anyway because she's dependent on Gennari/Piani to play as well then, which cannot be compared to the other options on their position.

Btw, can someone from Italy explain how the new salary tax rules are working?

I saw a tweet stating that Italy changed the tax deduction rules this year and foreign volleyball players will be heavily affected by this change.

  • Wow! Conegliano always made great rosters but this would be strongest on paper and most fun to watch! Although it would be bad for Turkish teams, I would love to watch Zhu, Gabi and Haak. So many of my favorite players at the same team, I might be crovolley 2.0 next season 😍

You don't know how hard it is to keep up with Italian legislation as an Italian, let alone translate it in English... :wall:

The latest article I read about the topic was this one: https://www.ilsole24ore.com/ar…ivi-AFRcjeBC?refresh_ce=1. I'm not sure it will answer your question though.

Conegliano will be unstoppable for sure. Good for the team but not so good for the players and league. Those who will be staying on bench could have been a starter in any team and increase the level of competition specially now that the USA opened new leagues there will be a shortage in every position. Lanier for example and even Alsmier are a starter for any team. But Conegliano being greedy will delayed their development as a player, the league will be boring if only 1 or 2 club are getting these players.

This doesn't really apply to volley though as this is about professional sports (which volley isn't).

I don't understand much about economic/taxation stuff so I really can't go on details but from what I gather the main difference will be a new 25% social security tax (2/3 to be paid by the club 1/3 by the athlete), but it will be applied only at 50% until 2028

I can't deny, never been a fan of Conegliano, but this line-up is too likeable, I might root for them as well

This season all players have started matches (except L2 Bardaro, but she did get many backrow sub moments:heart:), so personally I wouldn't worry about Lanier and Alsmeier being benched each week. They just need to find a good combination of who fits well together and who don't (i.e this season, I would not choose Plummer-Lanier or Cook-Gennari in together, but they can easily be mixed), and then they can all get playing time and save the "best line-up" for the real top matches.

You're right in the fact that if they would only use the same starting 7, it will be a shame. But I'm hopeful it won't be like that! And let's hope that it gives other talents the opportunities to break through at those other clubs :box:

  • I am not sure why everyone thinks Hook, Gabi, Zhu is far better than Vargas, Fedorovtseva, Ana C? If it was couple of years ago maybe but now, I don’t think so.

not better but still a dream team and a team that's easy to root for.

Who can confidently say that Arina/Ana C Vargas will work? I’m talking about passing line there, it worked for like 2 months last season and everybody is still praising it while Arina didn’t become any better passer and Ana C is not showing any signs of being close to that shape of last season. Even then pass was very shaky and barely worked, and they still lost 2 important games (CL semi and Turkish cup) to a team that had Bajema in it’s reception line vs servers like Arina and Vargas. They had what? 5 great games that whole season and still barely made it to Turkish league final.

Terzic was a specialist in making bad passing teams work, we still have to wait and see if Lavarini would be able to do the same.

I’m not saying it won’t work, but we are praising a team that performed great for couple of games and still lost to Vakif in 2 of some of the most important games of the season while they were in their peak and obvious favourites.

I was compering how FB played against Imoco last year, those 3 played very well. Gabi is a very good passer and over all player, but she is not as high scorer, Zhu is not the same as before, and I certainly prefer Vargas over Hook. So, we’ll see.
