2018 FIVB World Championship - Japan

  • So far I know, Kim Yeon-Koung was not there, was she?

She was, both Japan and Korea basically sent the same rooster their as this WCH one. Zhu, Kim and the regular girls were all there. All 5 Asian federation participating teams in this WCH sent their main players at the Asian games. Thailand won it 3-0 vs Japan and 3-1 vs Korea but lost 0-3 to China in the final.

  • some of these scores are really scary. it just shows you the disparity in men’s and women’s games, and how women’s sports are neglected around the world. arab & muslim countries for example don’t even have women’s teams. and so many countries don’t even support girls’ sports.

but it’s also true some teams have declined a lot from their past form. DOM, PUR, KAZ, even ARG, used to play at a much higher level than their current form.

NORCECA has too many spots here, we already established that ( they did the same in the men’s WCh). i wish COL were here, or POL.

  • Kazakhstan has never exactly been a world class team, but are they really as bad as losing 0:3 against Kenya these days? Or in other words, has Kenya really improved that much? From their roster I recognise only the setter and Mercy Moim...

  • Azerbaijan match is crucial for Russia to win. I just saw the USA-Azerbaijan game and Russia will be lucky if they get two points off them.:white:

Favorite players: M: Maxim Mikhaylov, Murilo, Serginho, Aaron Russell, Otavio, Simone Giannelli, Ivan Zaytsev, Tsvetan Sokolov, Michał Kubiak, Mariusz Wlazly, Pawel Zagummy W: Sheilla, Zhu Ting, Natalia, Fe Garay, Fofao, Gabi, Thaisa, Foluke Akinradewo, Wei Qiuyue, Ding Xia, Carli Lloyd, Fabi, Natalia Goncharova, Yuko Sano, Saoris Kimura and Sakoda

  • Does somebody have replay of Italy and Bulgaria ??

Italy has very good schedule, first 3 matches are against 3 not so strong teams. They can get 3 easy victorie and max. point and they can focuse on stronger teams with confident.

  • Any live streaming site that doesn't require VPN? thanks

Whereas the offer is eligible, I find the easiest solution to watch will be just subscribing the VB World TV -- at 13 euro (for me in Asia, W WCH + some extra from M WCH), I think the offer is a good bargain, valid for the entire tournament. I just regged this morning without hassle and instantly granted the access. So far so good, worth the bucks spent! Recommended.

  • Too bad the GER team could not force through the decider, it had been so close to go five sets... the team was just a bit loosened at the 4th set. It's always interesting to watch the match involving the teams of GER vs NED, there is ever an EXTRA level of energy and match intensity displayed by the underdog team, GER, in this case, showing the intense competition prestige, the high level of rivalry... just similar to the competition in football, only with the reverse position there.

I can't get it in the USA, but I'm curious if you have replays (immediately or otherwise) available to you--because you can't watch three games at once.

And I'm sure downloading is not an option?

Replays are all available, incl the VNL ones. Bonus the SF match of M WCH. Download is a big no no, and just no option! :-)

  • At the recent concluded Asian games, this same Thai girls beat both Japan and Korea to play in the finals vs China. They didn't win, but silver was nice against world #1 team with their A team.

Rooting for them! I feel like the golden girls of Thailand are retiring really soon, and I want them to have a really nice exit :)

  • Anyway, Thailand displayed great (field) defence and teamplay today, they deserved the success without any doubt. The WC is a long competition, I hope they have the stamina to keep strong despite their physical disadvantages (most players of them are really short for international measures).

  • btw guys I remember Ajcharaporn was a big hype not long ago and she was supposed to be 'the next best thing' for Thailand but today she was like playing as much as a serve substitute player O.o ?? is she injured or other players just bypassed her?

She had knee injury last month.

  • Do any of our Argentinian friends have an update on #9 Clarisa Sagardia and the libero, #12 Tatiana Rizzo after their face to face collision yesterday? I hope they are able to make it back on court tonight
